So GKP have been paid today and we don't appear to have been.

First time I have ever known that to happen with us following them.

I wonder if its anything do do with DNO Operational and Finance Update next Thursday.

So the questions are:

Will this months payments be the highest ever.

Will be Peshkibir be over 20k BPOD yet.

How is Peshkabir 4 progressing.

Have DNO made any progress in Somaliland, there blocks are next to ours. Please don't say there won't be some kind of tie up at some stage.

Has our major bond holder DNB (Norway) got links to DNO.

Any thoughts ??

Malcy comments on oil market today;

"I suspect that the downside for the oil price is pretty limited for the time being."
====================================================================================

Yes, looks pretty good. We are in dreamland now with POO in the $70's because of the impact on earnings.

Brent now $71.71 , excellent

DNB ASA is GENL's largest bond holder with 5.72% of outstanding bonds today.

DNB ASA happens to be the largest financial institution in Norway.

Why would the larest financial institution on Norway OF ALL countries be the largest debt holder of GENL?

Maybe DNO our TAWKE / PESH partner are behind them?

Maybe during the share price crash from 10 pounds to 50p DNO via DNB were buying up the debt in case of a debt to equity swap getting in an advantageous position for GENL takeover?

Maybe that's why GENL is so eager to buy back debt no it's in comfortable cash flow situation?

Maybe I am just paranoid? (lol Black Sabbath style!)

You do not have to convince me panagos; GENL is undervalued and has a long way to go , especially when the gas is turned on,lol

Come on guys however you slice is 69p EPS.That is what FTSE 100 companies make and they are valued above 10 quid.+ book value / price = 0.50 is dirt cheap by any means

Sure cyan I'm just saying 8% of revenue isnt that large although maybe that's oil sales whereas Genel is 8% after paying off the KRG

That is one way to judge value of a share Loglorry1.

Morningsatr has GENL's price sales ratio shown as 3.2.

Another ratio which suggests a different way to value a company is the price to book ratio.

Morningstar has BP at 1.5 whist GENL at 0.5

On the face of it the recorded price sales ratio suggests GENL's share price is at a premium;
the price to book ratio suggests its at a discount.

One has to consider so many numbers.

Hawkey we don't need to imagine if BP were getting paid 8% of their total value (market cap) each month.

Their price sales ratio is 0.6 so each year their sales are nearly twice their market cap roughly or 16% if market cap per month. The industry average is 1.1 over 8%

I'm bullish Genel but we need to be realistic.

The week that was.....and Genel Future.

Well, it looks like we have avoided world war 3 with the Yanks and Russians agreeing Syrians targets before they were hit. This may push oil down a bit temporarily as it hiked on the fear of a middle East war.

The oil market is now in balance according to most and with investments and discoveries in the last few years miles behind where they should be and the Saudis IPO and OPEC deal we should see 75$-80$ oil for the next year or so.

I know we old dogs go on about what an amazing investment Genel is but if things continue to stabilise in Kurdistan it really really could be about to fly. Just imagine if BP had a payment of approx 8% of their total value evert month. Its crazy. The elections in Iraq and KRG are the other hurdles to overcome and if this pass off successfully and we cobble together a deal with Bagdad our Gas assets will truly start to shine.

The COO said Genel should be debt free at the end of the year. Bloody amazing. Or if we go the other way and fund our own Gas we already have the cash to do the Upstream 100% with no free carry. The mid stream at 3$ Billion is where the questions are. We had planned to keep 10% of this but we shall see.

Miran oil is a goer within 6 months of the get go and will also fund the Gas. Its also very close to our other fields for infrastructure needs.

When you add the fact we will be hitting 30k BOPD by summer and more by end of year from Pesh we are in a good place. A bit of luck with Taq Taq will also help out

I also think that with nearly 500$ million invested in the new Somaliland Port Berbera they will want to start fishing for oil there soon. I personally think this could be bigger than Gas, potentially 2$ billion barrels in a proven oil bearing area. The security situation is improving all the time.

SO there you have it but as always WTFDIK. Have a good day all.

FROM THE ANNUAL REPORT........

We appreciate the patience and confidence that our shareholders have shown in Genel over the last few turbulent years, and hope that the successes seen in the second half of 2017, and our strong financial position, provide renewed confidence that we can deliver on our plans to add material shareholder value in the years to come.

As Bina Bawi oil is both high-quality and in close proximity to the Taq Taq field and associated export infrastructure, it is an attractive near-term development candidate for the Company.

We have optionality about the progression of the project, with the ability to take the upstream towards FID with 100% ownership, should this be the best way to maximise shareholder value.

An extended well test at Bina Bawi will then provide valuable data on well deliverability and gas composition, and we will proactively engage with potential farm-in partners at the best possible time and terms for Genel. Bina Bawi and Miran remain a significant opportunity for Genel, and we will work to convert that opportunity into shareholder value in 2018.

We aim to add assets that build on the strengths of the current portfolio, prioritising areas with low to moderate political risk while retaining a focus on significant cash generation.

As of 31 December 2017, Genel employed 121 people. Of these, 65 are based in Ankara, 17 in London, 15 in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and 24 in our African operations. 24 in Africa ????

Genel then rolled out this support for local children to those in the proximity of Miran and Bina Bawi. In total, 183 children from five villages near to Miran, and a further 64 from three villages near to Bina Bawi, all benefitted from the programme.

The size of the Board has been reduced from nine Directors to seven

For 2018, the CEO£s annual bonus will continue to be based solely on the achievement
against the Company scorecard metrics. The scorecard will include metrics based on financial performance (30%), operational performance (20%), Bina Bawi and Miran (20%), strategy execution (15%) and safety and environment performance (15%).
