30/3/2017 08:05 | The gas assets have been tested for impairment as a result of a revision to the assumed date of project sanction and phasing together with updated cost estimates. The combination of these factors has resulted in both a reduction and delay in the timing of the cash flows associated with the asset and a consequent reduction in its carrying value. In addition, the estimate of the discount rate used for impairment testing of gas assets has increased from 12.5% to 15%. This increase reflects investor perception of a sustained increase in both Turkish and KRI risk given the continued political and financial uncertainty in both countries. The revised estimates and assumptions have resulted in an impairment expense of $581.3 million. | newswseller | |
