10/1/2016 22:11 | For sure. The next trading update will be very interesting! | hutch_pod
10/1/2016 16:50 | Thanks Hutch - yes you are right its a proposal for authority presumably to actually buy them but not necessarily - I am learning hehe. I have a feeling whichever way this goes and whatever way GAME ends up this will be a good learning curve. | grants1961
10/1/2016 16:29 | Hi, is it not a renewal of authority to make the buyback as opposed to stating they intend to do so? It seemed to be in place last year and I can't recall a buyback happening - happy to be corrected... | hutch_pod
09/1/2016 16:04 | Hey grants, the pre Xmas update was pretty odd I agree , although I put it down to the trends being so clear that they felt they needed to update the market. Has a share buyback been mentioned recently? I guess the weaker cash position would make this more difficult. | hutch_pod
09/1/2016 13:03 | Hi Guys I am fairly new to the world of fundamentals having spent the last few years as purely technical with very limited success!! Reading the fundamentals and news for Game it strikes me a cunning plan is underway and I cant quite fathom it. Firstly who announces before christmas that christmas trading will be down? most companies seem to do this after the event! The whole issue of shares buyback is quite surprising given the company will now buyback the shares at substantially less than before the prechristmas announcement - good for the company and when done excellent for analyst calculations. Call me naive but should those who rule the company be clever enough to predict the suppossed slowdown wouldn't this share drop and subsequent buyback put the company in a very attractive position for new investors say in the spring summer of 2016. I know a lot are predicting the end of the world regarding this company but I really cannot see it. It seems more likely the company is realigning for a new year in which case buying these shares would be shrewd when all around are running for the Hills! Guess it is prudent to wait for the AGM but then again what do I know!! | grants1961

07/1/2016 16:36 | Just spotted this. Presumably GMD's stat of 13.5% decline includes consoles whereas the measure below is purely games.. ----- Entertainment sales hit £6.1 billion last year, according to the Entertainment Retailers Association, breaking the previous best of £6.04 billion reached in 2004. Music sales grew by 4 per cent in 2015, video rose by 1.5 per cent and video game sales surged 10 per cent.. In gaming, digital revenue grew by 17 per cent to £1.9 billion — more than the online music and movie businesses put together — but physical revenue dropped by 2 per cent. Game Digital, the retailer, warned about profits before Christmas and it appears that the owners of new consoles are not buying as many physical copies of games as they did. | hutch_pod
07/1/2016 15:10 | Thanks Hutchpod. I held on for the divi when my instincts were telling me to sell up - a mistake on my part. I would agree that the recent falls seem to be based on fear, and sentiment towards retailers in general. For now I'll continue holding as its pretty Its still a profitable company, paying a divi, with a decent balance sheet. Guess that's what makes a market. | imranawan
07/1/2016 14:57 | No problem - I do actually still have that small holding, but it's now fractional (not in my main account, so never sold). The very recent falls do seem fear driven, and beyond the (perhaps) prudent view taken at the update. | hutch_pod
07/1/2016 14:48 | Hutch you can have a punt when it relists again after going into administration....th | deanroberthunt
07/1/2016 14:38 | Thanks for your thoughts Grants1961. Even based on the revised EPS from Liberum this is on a PE of 9.5 today, and I agree the divi will probably be trimmed but not totally cut. Apologies Hutchpod - as I believe before xmas you had a small holding. Looking good value again - but the next update from them will be critical. Fallen on very little volume, considering the huge volume over the past couple of days. | imranawan
07/1/2016 14:23 | Hi guys been watching this one and bought in at around 120ish. It seems to me the pyschology of its history combined with fear selling is making this a very attractivly priced stock - it is a completely different animal from its former self. Its fundamentals are far from dire albeit not as good as expected but still a profit making company. Someone bought 3million shares yesterday so its nice to know I am not alone! The dividend I predict will be adjusted but not dissolved. So to anyone else holding out there.... good luck | grants1961
07/1/2016 14:19 | Hey imranawan, no i'm just watching now. It is getting to levels where i'd have a punt though. | hutch_pod
07/1/2016 14:04 | Thanks for your constructive comments tintin82. | imranawan
07/1/2016 13:41 | If they can turn this round after the PW this could be interesting. Game long neglected PC gamers, but I see they have teamed up with Overclockers UK to roll out their systems in Game stores. Considering these sell for thousands not hundreds, it could be very lucrative. PC gamers spend way more on hardware than console folk with a mere debt graphics card costing more than an entire console, so exploiting this is well overdue. | tintin82 |
