This makes me think it could be SD delaying an RNS so to allow time to prepare a wider announcement of their intention to take over GMD. If it was just Elliot selling to multiple investors what reason for the delay? I think it could go either way though and have no idea how these things work behind the scenes.

Elliott's are said to be due to complete their acquisition of Waterstones by the end of this month. Perhaps they wanted the dosh? £20m +. Small beer for Elliott's I'd have thought.

The price is the highest price paid by the bidder, not just the highest price in general.If there is a bid it will start at ~50p.

Although I would say a "private placing" doesn't have to be notified, happens all the time.

Speculation - perhaps, but with justification.

It defies logic to assume it is an SPD takeover - so that's the utter guesswork.
