Good trading statement from PSN - profits going up - outlook good. PER 9, Yield 9%.

Share price falls - takes rest of house building sector with it. I'm not sure what represents a good update anymore for a house builder. Not sure GFRD will please the market on 17th - it will take a lot.

PSN are being crushed as well.
builders are cyclical we all know.
But GFRD are particularly cheap by any measure.

Are builders in for such difficult time?
Interest rates will stay low and there is political pressure to solve the housing shortage.
Ex the CLLN farce margins should improve in non housing projects going forward.

yes ok.
I was just reading the data on 'financials'
obviously not updated post rights.

But the building sector has had a tough time recently.

careful,GFRD is currently yielding around 8.2% at a share price of 850p.Full year dividend expected to be around 70p.No way will GFRD be paying a final divi of 64p or 92p for the year !

A PE of 5.8 and a yield of 11% must tell us something.

I wasn't expecting this much weakness but bad sentiment on the House front coupled with wafer thin margins on construction, you can see why it doesn't have many friends hopefully it will turn around when they can announce Aberdeen is done and there is evidence they haven't signed up for any more.

What's happening £10 to £8.70 in 3 weeks on no news and little volume ? Is it general sector malaise ? Any thoughts ....

balance sheet should be ok here after rights issue.
CEO said rights issue was not essential so good management should keep balance sheet strong.
those cowboys at CLLN have made us all nervous.

Yes. I bought some more yesterday. They were tipped on motley fool this week. The forecasted profits for the year are £138-£146m making it very good value

builders suffering of late.
Berkeley negative comments about 'peak' profits yesterday have not helped.
GFRD looks so cheap but we need a reassuring update.

Dr Smith .. having worked in the public sector for many years theres plenty of back-handers to get work, I've seen it to obtain machinery, so it doesn't suppise me about Carillon contacts

Bluemango: There are often rules on expected holding for key staff, BOD etc, so this could be purely to maintain his quota (and get bonus way above that), so as a cynical person I don't read anything into what is sometimes taken as a positive sign.

For a split second I feared it was another joint effort GFRD were getting the sh*tty end of the stick on.
Of all CRLN "in progress" work, I assume it is all still continuing re client needs, be it Gov't or private sector. A big percentage presumably by sub-contractors that were doing much of it in any case, in all but name.
For CRLN's part you post I would assume is just the tip of the iceburg in terms of CRLN's slice being re-distributed.

On BBC live page today it has:

Scroll down to timestamp 6.06 near bottom:

"The collapse of Carillion raises questions about the capacity and competence of government as a client in complex outsourcing contracts," said John Tizard, an independent adviser on public service stratergy, a former director of outsourcing group Capita, and former leader of Bedfordshire County Council.

He argues governments shouldn't be engaging in complex outsourcing deals at all.

"The government did not know until less than a year before the final collapse of Carillion the total size and number of contracts that Carillion had with the public sector, or indeed with the government itself. That is incredible," Mr Tizard told the 5 live.

The collapse of construction giant Carillion will cost UK taxpayers an estimated £148m, the National Audit Office has said.

Costs soar by £24m as Galliford Try awarded contract on Lincoln Eastern Bypass -

The Lincoln Eastern Bypass is set to be delayed by six months and cost £24m more than originally forecast after the collapse of Carillion.

The news was revealed as the county council selected Galliford Try to undertake all remaining construction works for the Lincoln Eastern Bypass.

Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, says: “Following the appointment of Galliford Try earlier this year for the first package of Eastern Bypass construction works, we’re pleased to announce they will also be carrying out the remainder of the project.

“Since taking over from Carillion, Galliford has made great progress on-site, so we’re excited to continue building this relationship as they oversee all of the milestones to come, including the construction of four new roundabouts, two major bridges and 7.5km of new road.”...

Thank-you mayers. For me to correct each time would detract from conversation topic.
You are right to view posters with suspicion, though the "view posts" normaly reveals if the poster has an unwanted agenda.

According to another poster I am really an astronaut and have starred in TV series...
Dr. Smith in Lost in Space. As a fellow old git you likely recall that. ;-)

Tis now Monday morning when shares often take a dip but, notwithstanding Trump/China brewing trade war etc FTSI and GFRD are on plus side, and shining sun should mean no "bad weather delays" for gfrd.
