My average buy price is similar to yours doc.
I am easily pleased, just the prospect of a profit makes me feel smug.

CC 2014.....KIE & MNGS haven't had their share price slaughtered anything like GFRD so no reason for them to bounce back as fast. GFRD has a far lower price to free cash flow than the other two, lower p/e & higher yield.

Careful:
I seemingly cannot live up to your handle, despite trying, or smugness, having average buy in price of £12.25 :-)
..but entered as a long term and happy to wait Buffet style.

Sorry - slow day on rest of market. I could have been clearer.

Kier is up to but only 2.3% and was doing better earlier in the day.

I can't work it out at all.

A good day, these markets do not hang around, in either direction.

Something odd here. Can't be just the dividends. Must be a broker note or some news someone has got hold of we don't know about.

Could just be a buy program gone mad on a slow day

Yes ex div 15/3/18 for div 28p paid 6/4/18 according to(bottom right margin):

I guess imminent div adds fuel to fire for recent buying, though not in itself a reason..and perhaps superflous considering pending rights call.

The volatility here has probably attracted a few traders who are in and out and in again.
I wouldn't be surprised if it gives back half of today's stellar gains. Overall it is a good investment at these prices.
Ex-div later this week (Thursday?)

9% 'technical bounce' in 4 hours!? I doubt it.

Look at the chart, long term resistance at 800, just a technical bounce I reckon after falling 50%

Two thoughts - it goes ex-div on Thursday, and I think the public finances look slightly healthier than Hammond feared. Both of those things could cause a flicker of optimism this weak.

But for pessimists, the snowdrifts must have caused problems on some construction sites!

Maybe Hammond will announce some new initiative on housebuilding.
It will happen just a matter of time.

The share price is way down IMO from where it should be post CRLN and news of rights issue...so share price itself isn't surprise to me..but the sudden jump is.

I hold in IQE - business totally unrelated, but it has been victim to shorters with many and varied tricks to decimate price, despite it being in an expanding market with excelent prospects.

I wonder if shorters have similarly been playing a game with GFRD, capitalising on the bad news, sending price further down...until share price makes it crazy for big players not to jump in and buy... but my thought is weak on looking at timing, why first thing on a Monday...why didn't they buy Friday, maybe an article in Sunday papers?

I've noticed Kier plc (KIE) is also up 4% this morning perhaps a sector brokers note, or possible interest from Kier??? We shall see.

There is definitely something going on. They'll have to release some news soon.Hopefully some really good news and not just going up based on a rumour

Get this rights issue out of the way.
We could eventually return to previous highs here.
Balance sheet will be strong, no pension deficit, lessons learned from CLLN.
These markets create opportunities.

It has halved in the last 12 months! Just more buyers than sellers, maybe a buy note out somewhere
