The gross margin performance in the final periods of the year continued to be
strong and, taken together with the sales performance, it is now expected that
profit before tax for the year will be comfortably above the top end of the current range of market expectations.

Next announcement

Galiform will release its 2009 Preliminary Results on 4 March 2010.

They are geared for the trade only and fear losing thier support if they are seen to be going down the retail route hence why they have different prices for the same products. I think they should just get on with it and to be honest you can get different quotes for the same product even between Howden's depots as each manager is responsible for thier own profit margin!!!!!!!!

In refurbishing a rental property last year. We used B&Q for kitchen units and Howdens for the worktops.
We found the Howdens brochure pricing confusing. When we decided on the Howdens worktops (liked the finish and depth) we thought they were more expensive than B&Q but with different trade discounts they actually worked out cheaper. We possibly would have bought the kitchen units from Howdens, but we found it difficult to get a final price from them.

I have had the arguement with a Howdens employee or two over thier business model a number of times in the last year or so as I beleive they are missing a trick by not dealing with retail. I am not suggesting a full blown assault as thier depots are not quiet big enough, but they could use the quiet weekends to build some retail income with minimal cost to the core business imo, so it's nice to see the full page advert.

£1.10 I beleive is the short term target here, but that should be re-forecasted higher after the nest results.
Just my opinion as I no longer hold.

This company is very unlikely to be taken over, nothin wrong with raising the profile. Reading between the lines it would appear to have a new media strategy, expect this one to burst through the £1 mark by the end of the month

If it on their agenda to be taken over, as much exposure as possible is required.

The share price seems to be holding very well compared to some out there and it really depends on what other stocks you are holding, but still worth a hold with a target price of around 110p imo.

GALIFORM

Noble analysts said that Galiform's trading update did not disappoint, with an improved sales trend and a gross margin well ahead of expectations. The broker increased its full-year 2009 earnings per share estimate by 28 per cent and for 2010 by 38 per cent, which it said means that, even after the recent share price rise, its 110p valuation is not expensive. With risks remaining on the upside, it has Galiform as a top pick in the sector.

Kitchen supplier Galiform climbed 8.35p to 89.95p on the back of news that its full year profits would exceed market expectations. Cazenove commented:

The shares have traded sideways in recent weeks, consolidating a strong recovery in 2009 and awaiting incremental news. Today's update implies a significant upgrade to consensus forecasts and should give the market cause to reassess Galiform's investment quality.

V...

No, I'm out of this one although probably a bit too early, but that's life!

Could be a good opp to buy in at UNIQ, very silly reaction to the sale news today and we have one more sale to go, but it will be debt free and could even be a takeover target at this silly level imo!!

We are in it to make a profit at the end of the day and not to be too greedy, but none of it matters if it is not in the bank so to speak!! ;)

Good luck.
