I'm assuming you add them together. The benefit from tax on share options was included in the original announcement of a likely extra 0.48p.

Tiltonboy - Exactly - As clear as mud - I've been reading & rereading that exact paragraph - still can't decide over the fate of the 0.16p - is it in addition to the 0.32p - or is it included in the 0.32p!!??

I'm sure you'll be able to find out on Monday.

I've read it a few times, but still can't get my head round the following paragraph -

"The estimated net asset value per Existing Ordinary Share is calculated exclusive of the tax deductions amounting to approximately 0.16 pence per Existing Ordinary Share which may be available as a consequence of the exercise of options over 26,632,000 Existing Ordinary Shares in December 2007. It is estimated that interest receivable by the Company on its cash deposits after 30 November 2007 to the expected date of the first interim distribution in liquidation, potential tax deductions on the exercise of
the Options and expected mitigation of the staff termination payments could amount in aggregate to an additional 0.32 pence per Existing Ordinary Share on a fully diluted basis. The amount realised is contingent on interest rates and also on the occurrence and timing of certain events in the future."

In particular the 0.16p in the first sentence.

Otherwise very happy.

Herewith the document. Skip to p6 to see what we get. 16.5p + 2.37p + 0.32p = 19.19p. That Extra 2.69p seems to be coming H1'2009. Seems slightly less and rather later than we anticipated - but I could be missing something. Have only quickly scanned. What think you Tiltonboy?

PS. Still makes GLA a good buy @ 17.0p! Even the 17.11p I had to pay to top-up this week.

Does anyone know the date for the CGT loss? Will it be mid Feb 2008 (ex date of first liquidation dividend and suspension of shares) or sometime in the next tax year once the final capital liquidation payment is made?

Johny - you can get a SIPP through a number of providers. Look at "Hargreaves Lansdown" website - they have a good reputation, good fund range, initial fund discounts, good information etc. You can also hold your isas with them as well, so everythings in 1 place if that make sense for you. Check that your new company dosn't make a contribution to the stakeholder or offer any minimum gaurantees (as both would probably be worth having) though before discounting it.

All - I've picked some more GLA up as well recently (at 16.9p), even at 17p, the likelihood that all of the cash (19.35p) will be returned within a year (should be quicker) gives a potential 14.5% return with a worst case downside scenario (i.e. you only get the 16.5p back) of about -2.5% - this is without tying the capital outlay up over the next year, because we get most of it back in Feb/March. Seems like a no brainer, particularly in the current environment (assuming you can invest in a tax-free vehicle/ use your cap gain allowance etc)?

All,
Off topic question but I feel the guys on here are much better than any IFA.
I have started with a new comapny which offers stakeholder pension.

From what I have seen the returns, and required contribution are pretty poor.

any advice as to what I can do individually? and where to get some onfo.

I am a holder in Gla, and my forthcoming cash will be going into this pension pot...

cheers

Just bought another 250K.

This share was tipped in the Sunday Times yesterday but under the misapprehension that Galahad was still diversifying into soft commodities.Someone should tell them that the company is winding itself up!Still a good punt though at 17p.

This is good news, I would think anyone buying at < 16.75p tomorrow would be lucky.

Just one question that I'm not clear on - do we have any idea on the timing of the 2.37p + 0.48p (- expenses etc) payment?

SKYSHIP,

It reminds me of 2001/2 when I played around a dozen cash shells with the lowest return being 8%. In that period of time, the market was falling and nobody would touch was almost a guarantee. I didn't complain because it allowed me to pick up lines of stock without competeition. I bought over 20% of Pure Entertainments and made over 30% on the investment.

Picked up a few more at 16.6p and 16.638p, but think I will struggle to buy any more at a decent price. Somebody was trying to pick up 3m at 16.5p.

You were correct on the RR of the other company. Indeed the bank does have first shout. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Tiltonboy - In these markets you can't even give away £1 notes - though perhaps that's because they don't exist anymore!

Seriously though nickcduk & fuiseog - if you can get a few sub 17p you really ought to do so because they won't stay there for much longer - in fact after that 350k buy at the close, they may not even be available tomorrow!

fuiseog,

If you read the announcement properly, you will see that those have been accounted for.
