Fulham Shore's Franco Manca to open in Debenhams Westfield store. Debs says has another 30 outlets where it will put some sort of food offer. Not all will be Franco's but could be interesting.

City restaurateur David Page’s Fulham Shore vehicle has spent £27.5 million on its latest venture, snapping up Franco Manca.

The sourdough pizza chain was founded by Giuseppe Mascoli and started with one restaurant in Brixton Market in 2008.

It now has 10 branches across the capital, including two which arrived last year in South Kensington and East Dulwich.

Fullham Shore already operated the Tottenham Court Road Franco Manca, a relationship that encouraged Fullham to pursue the deal.

"Franco Manca's short, simple menu can support good restaurant margins. This has been demonstrated by the Group's existing franchise at Tottenham Court Road which has been operating for over a year," it said in a statement.

Page, a 30-year veteran of Pizza Express, also founded and chaired Clapham House, the owner of the Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Bombay Bicycle Club.

Franco Manca will join the Real Greek restaurant chain as part of Fullham Shore's portfolio."

It may brand itself as a proper Greek restaurant chain, and even has live bouzouki music but it is years since anybody smashed a plate at a branch of The Real Greek — at least deliberately.

David Page, the former PizzaExpress boss who is bringing the chain to AIM, said that the perception of Greek restaurants as a place to quaff “undrinkable wine”, dance on tables and smash plates was “rather out-of-date” and at odds with The Real Greek concept. ... "



The chain and its seven restaurants will join the stock market by means of a RTO of Fulham Shore, a cash shell set up by Mr. Page almost three years ago.
Fulham Shore is currently listed on the ISDX, and will move to an AIM quote.

As part of the listing, the company plans to raise £1.6M. for expansion via a subscription for more shares, giving a market value of £20M."
