09/1/2018 10:24 | John, in the RNS and previous statements, FST refer to "increasingly competitive":"This will be an important differentiator in the increasingly competitive Smart Audio space."This suggests competitors are growing in numbers. My concern is price competition. I like businesses that have something unique and can build an unassailable moat around themselves. | nod
09/1/2018 10:22 | You're right Nod. Also, this doesn't mean that FST technology is in Google/Amazon/Apple equipment but that other companies developing products to interconnect with Google/Amazon/Apple equipment can use FST technology in their products to do that. The biggest thing I take from these announcements is that FST have all three of Google/Amazon/Apple covered - which should make it easier for them to sell their technology. All, IMHO. | mark4231
09/1/2018 10:11 | Perhaps. But how many providers are there... | john09
09/1/2018 10:08 | Not wanting to rain on the parade but, I assume FST is one of multiple suppliers providing similar interfaces to the applications offered by Apple, Google, Amazon, Spotify, etc.I assume this is not like IMG, CSR, Wolfson who were the chosen one. | nod
09/1/2018 09:44 | OMG if this ties up with APple this is going to £10 | albanyvillas
09/1/2018 09:32 | Exciting stuff! Very exciting stuff! I agree Monty. Look on the bright side though, the lack of PR has allowed those in the know - us - to get invested before the rest of the world finds out. The revenues from these collaborations won't be hidden. Anyway, yes, I believe this is the first time there has been a link with Apple. The release of the Apple HomePod is expected soon so great that FST are involved with all three major players in the Smart Audio space. | mark4231

Frontier Smart Technologies, a leading supplier of digital audio technologies, today announced it is adding support for AirPlay 2 to its SmartSDK. The company will be previewing its AirPlay 2 implementation at this year’s CES. The Frontier SmartSDK is an advanced and flexible multi-ecosystem software solution, which supports the latest audio technologies, including AirPlay 2. Together with Frontier’s Minuet hardware platform, it enables third party brands and manufacturers to develop smart audio products quickly and cost-effectively. AirPlay 2 introduces multi-room audio playback from iOS devices to enabled speakers with a simple tap or by asking Siri. Anthony Sethill, CEO, Frontier Smart Technologies, said: “We are excited to bring AirPlay 2 support to Frontier’s SmartSDK. For third party brands, this functionality will allow speakers to be seamlessly controlled from an iPhone or iPad using the Apple Music or Podcasts apps, by asking Siri, and in third party apps which support AirPlay. This will be an important differentiator in the increasingly competitive Smart Audio space.” About Frontier Smart Technologies Limited Frontier is the world’s leading supplier of technology solutions for digital radio and smart audio products. 08/1/2018 12:24 | Forgot to add, Mrs Drewster loves that she can turn the heating up without having to use an app or find the thermostat. | the drewster
08/1/2018 12:18 | My brother in law is blind, and the technology is life-changing for him... he can ask the time, re-tune his radio, find football scores, play his choice of music, all without having to "ask for help from another human" ... he feels less of a burden! | the drewster
08/1/2018 10:42 | Also dont have the hassle of finding the menu and having to charge smartphones so I think after a slow start it will take off this year in a big way. | amt
08/1/2018 10:39 | Yes more convenient than smartphone and much better microphones and speakers. They are so cheap I have bought 3 and primarily use them as radios. I also use them as timers. Excellent when in kitchen and hands full of utensils. It makes sense to have several in the house and once you have one then likelihood is that you would buy several. Therefore could sell in similar numbers to smartphones in the long run. | amt
08/1/2018 10:39 | I like FLTA previously held but sold too soon as per usual, also hold ESG but nothing else caused me to rush and buy.... | battlebus2 |
