The difficult thing for other stores will be getting gamers to cross over from steam. Gamers wont necessarily care what percentage publishers get, and steam is a well established and easy to use game client. It could be that in the future publishers give exclusive rights to certain stores, forcing gamers to buy from those specific ones.

The Discord Store has announced it will allow self publishers like Fdev to split revenue 90/10. Braben tweeted it today saying how good it was for self publishers.

Mark4231, you should turn off your Steam preference filter or use the unfiltered numbers on gametopsellers. That confirms only one of those was in the real global Top 50. ED Horizons has since crept in at #47 hxxp://gametopsellers.com/game/441340/elite-dangerous-horizons-season-pass .

Nimbo said Steam, and shortly after he posted that comment I took a look and ED, ED Horizons, ED CMDR Deluxe, Cretaceous DLC and Dr Wu DLC were all high up in the charts. I've just taken a look now and all those are currently in top 100 Steam UNFILTERED Global Top Sellers (ED CMDR Deluxe is at 22).

So, I see you've given up trying to spin recent multiple large NED Spouse buys as a negative. :-)

You must have your Steam preferences filter turned on. The real global chart shows none of ED, PC and JWE even reached the top 50, despite desperate price cutting like ED down from £40 to £4.79.

Edit: I found one. A discounted ED bundle at #23. FD's latest game Jurassic World Evolution is at #352.

square1, What's your basis for thinking that Joy HU is restricted in the same way as her director husband? That's not what the MAR rules say. The MAR rule for close period delading quite specifically restricts PDMRs but not PCAs.

Fortunately FDEV games are pretty safe, other than potentially bits of Elite Dangerous (smuggling, narcotics etc) and none of them include loot boxes or the like.

Hopefully Tencent can help FDEV expedite approval of PC and JWE when the authorities allow.

I agree completely Mark. They are increasing their base game player base ahead of the next paid for update. as you pointed out the Elite DLC are more like Expansion Packs of old, where they cost a good chunk of the original game price.

Shanklin, yes it's a huge discount but I think this is part of an FDEV game plan.

Of the three existing FDEV franchises I'm most excited for Elite: Dangerous. It's a huge game, with more potential than PC and JWE (where FDEV's hands are no doubt somewhat tied) I believe, and with this week's update FDEV have addressed many of the most complained about flaws. I see this 'free' update as a good base now for the paid DLC to come - although DLC is perhaps a misnomer when, like Horizons has been, it is far bigger in concept (and more expensive, but that means more revenue for FDEV) than any DLC we have seen for PC or JWE. The more sales now for the base game mean more potential purchases of the next paid DLC. I'm not sure that analyst estimates going forward have taken that into account rather than just concentrating on trailing sales of existing franchises and new franchises. My opinion and feeling, DYOR.

76% seems a humungous discount for ED but presumably there will soon be more PDLC which can be sold at full price for a while. Given how many people seem to be working on ED, this should be pretty meaty stuff.

Beyond Chapter 4 is being very well received by fans. Glad to see it is translating into sales. Nice and ready for the upcoming paid for update!

Did the game sell better than they expected in ps4 abd xbox one stores i wonder?

"Sold Out" are the distributor albeit I see JWE on PS4 will not be in stock until 27-Dec-18. There is currently availability on the XBox One version
