14/3/2017 23:40 | Nice £18,000 buy at 300p - 10p above the 290p published offer price - reported just after the close.... | rivaldo
11/3/2017 15:45 | Add my thanks to that.As an aside I heard yesterday that they are going to be keeping the existing building alongside the new HQ, which if true is very interesting. Will have to check that out for confirmation. | hastings
11/3/2017 14:53 | Thanks ck1111. Please keep posting the info. | p1nkfish
11/3/2017 11:38 | PS4 version: demo on the livestream looks good. Makes use of PS4 motion controller for free head look. I would say they are on track for releasing mid year. PSVR: "nothing to say at this time". Bound to be working on it. Could be wanting to drip out news or it is a technical challenge/ not high enough frame rate etc and wont commit yet. DB's mantra is "under commit and over deliver". DB also mentioned ED going on other platforms. Maybe ED Horizons for Mac or Linux? PS4 will release with v2.3 which is in beta on PC now. 2.4 update will go out to all platforms later in year. It is looking like it will be aliens / Thargoid themed. Video shows caves with eggs - think Alien / HR Geiger. Will be popular! | ck1111
09/3/2017 17:33 | FDEV are showing off the PS4 version of ED for the first time tomorrow (Friday 9th March) at PAX East. Will be interesting to see how it is coming on and also if PSVR will be supported. The 2.3 beta of ED on PC is getting a positive response. A new Holo-me mode where you can create an avatar of yourself is very impressive plus the new camera suite will allow YouTubers etc. to create more impressive ED videos! Multi-crew has just gone to beta today. | ck1111
28/2/2017 07:05 | Problems are to be overcome especially if there is a big prize by doing so. I see a couple of things outside of "just" gaming, 1) A way into VR content and augmented reality and "other" areas that are in research elsewhere currently (involving headsets but not just for VR/Aug use in the current sense) 2) A way into the spiders web of future entertainment that is hard to imagine with a 10 yrs view More to it than just that given FDEVs own capabilities/tools. I also like the idea, if it plays out, that someone like Braben has control with a high % of ownership and a 10 year ambition outside of quick spikes in share price. As usual, nothing guaranteed and a lot of macro economic garbage is coming down the tracks but this has elements of a buy and forget that I like. Not without risks but a leader with a vision, a good track record & skin in the game is an asset that can help compensate for some of them. | p1nkfish
27/2/2017 20:15 | p1nk - I'm not so sure. 3D film is dying a death because people are highly resistant to glasses; VR goggles are a step beyond. In addition one is completely isolated which does not make for a good communal experience. Then there is the inducement of nausea if the virtual image does not move as ones head does. Video games yes, but outside of that I am quite dubious of the application. | hpcg
27/2/2017 19:43 | Big ambition. VR will probably feature heavily with massive software element in even run of the mill film and TV entertainment. | p1nkfish
27/2/2017 13:46 | Nice interview with Braben: Conclusion: "How big can Frontier be? “Size isn’t the goal here,” says Braben. “The goal here is to be one of the best entertainment companies in the world. I think in 10 years’ time there is scope for maybe a dozen big entertainment companies. And I want us in some way, and it will probably look completely different to where things are now, to be one of those.” | rivaldo
20/2/2017 11:14 | Good to see a £58,000 director buy at 285p whilst I was on hols last week. Very positive comments below this news: | rivaldo
18/2/2017 08:56 | Super clip here on Elite Dangerous, hats off to the guys n gals at Frontier. | hastings
15/2/2017 12:55 | Interesting stuff Simon.Added a few more words post the results after a few words with David Walsh.Impressed with the image of the new HQ.http://www.cambri | hastings
12/2/2017 11:29 | Good luck with everything. Know what you mean about time. JWNG is another to take a look at. Been lucky with entrance chunks at a time, it will probably take a breather but decent breakout last week. Still expecting UBI to show more leg too as the update was very interesting and I don't think the recovery in price is over with by a long way. Might take a couple of years though to get towards 120p type area. | p1nkfish
12/2/2017 10:41 | Hi p1nkfish, I did notice your post earlier, but have been very short of time. I hope to do some catching up with various charts over the next few days. | bamboo2
11/2/2017 11:15 | Expecting a run to about 322p, but I've been wrong before. Give it a few weeks. | p1nkfish
10/2/2017 19:14 | No problem buying at 285.5 today, so there appears to be a line available at that despite what L2 might show on the offer. My expectations are much more restrained. I think this goes up in big moves on news and then does little for quite a while. Building repeatable franchises is what it is all about though. | hpcg
10/2/2017 08:56 | Thanks for the article, Hastings. Always good to see some coverage on this company. I've been in since the IPO and for a long time you were the only one covering these guys so much appreciated. I can't see anything in the Investors Chronicle today btw but i will keep checking the online edition to see if they post something there. Otherwise it will be next Fri i guess since they still seem to be mainly driven around the print edition weekly cycle. Hopefully we are not all indulging in Groupthink but i do agree that the FB franchise would seem to work for FDEV. Hadn't ever properly looked at kinectimals before but they are pretty impressive. As usual we will just have to wait until the company drip feeds some more info. They've clearly got a roadmap for the business and David B seems a man of great integrity so i'm very happy just to sit on these for a few years and wait for them to execute their plans. 10/2/2017 07:25 | If it is that franchise, FB2 targeted film release for Nov 2018 and a clear run at FB1 prior earlier 2018 with FB2 potential on the runway for Christmas 2018. It smells like JKR to me. | p1nkfish
09/2/2017 22:12 | Kinectimals animals are very impressive (have a look on YouTube). I thought this tech could be applied to Jurassic Park dinosaurs but maybe it could be for Fantastic Beasts? Either way I think FDEV will make an excellent big commercial game provided they have creative freedom (which I'm sure they will have negotiated). | ck1111
09/2/2017 20:51 | Ardent Planet Coaster player recreates Hogwarts. | p1nkfish
09/2/2017 20:50 | FDEV - Feb 2017 - "based on an enduring movie franchise of global renown." NBC, Warner - Aug 2016 - “We are pleased to bring one of the most successful and enduring global franchises to the networks of NBCUniversal,” Next Fantastic Beats (5 in total) is Nov 2018, first released 2-3 months back. Warner Bros will be rolling out across multiple platforms for all franchise, inc Fantastic Beasts. | p1nkfish
09/2/2017 20:35 | Lol makw61, if it is where I think it is, then there should indeed be ample room to pass on the pedals, depending of course on how the headcount rises. A few words from the Cambridge News, a nice pic of a smiling Mr Braben and a further suggestion of Harry Potter from the scribe! | hastings |
