London – April 4, 2018 — Forbidden Technologies plc announced today a leading factual, features and entertainment television producer selects Blackbird for a BAFTA and Emmy award-winning documentary television programme.

The production company selected Blackbird to replace an existing EVS system to log and edit footage. The crew will use Blackbird to quickly log media from a gallery quad split of over 50+camera feeds, over an 18-week period.

Yes, won't take much for this to breakout. I'm the most confident I've felt in a long time. Ian seems to know what his doing, and has the team in place. I liked the news regards Calkins Media, and Field59 being bought out. Certainly looks like companies positioning themselves for the changes coming in broadcasting etc.

I have a lot of respect for Jeff Krebs he has been involved in the industry a longtime and is well known, good to have him on the team.

Sickness. Great find mate, and I did read it. Just thought I would re post as I believe it is very important news for Blackbird/FBT, and shows how companies are positioning themselves for the future of broadcasting etc. I think we are now massively under valued, and it’s only a matter of time before investors realise. I’ll be topping up in next couple of weeks into my ISA.

In his IBC presentation on delivering news in an OTT market, Chief Digital Officer for Calkins Media and OTT Innovator of the Year, Guy Tasaka, explained why the Calkins group is investing in an OTT strategy, saying “OTT is the next step in media democratisation and disruption. If you look at the other pieces of media democratisation – the internet, open source content management systems social media, availability of media on mobile – we view OTT as being as, if not more, important than these in moving power from big media companies to smaller companies or individuals. OTT is the technology that makes it possible for a small TV company in Florida to become one of the biggest OTT companies in the States.”

Tasaka cited a number of reasons they chose Forscene for the group’s OTT news editing, including the software’s ability to edit and publish broadcast-resolution media and closed captions, but turnaround time was a critical factor, “One of the ways that Forscene’s been really helpful is with our ability to capture longform video and post it to the web and OTT. Our previous provider would take upwards of twelve hours just to render the video once it was captured – and in the TV business your content is only as good as it is timely. We’ve seen audience engagement and adoption jump significantly since we moved to Forscene.”

Town News acquires Calkins Digital and Field59. Could they also be interested in FBT, as both companies OTT offerings are all using Blackbird technology.

McSean ... A buy out would be the best outcome for everyone... My gut feeling is that Mr Streater will not want to relinquish his 18 year project until all other options are covered.

The Emmy Nomi was for @blackbird and interestingly Jeff Krebs got the nomination
'Most recently he was nominated for an Emmy award in 2018 for a co-designed live sports clipping and highlights with MSG Networks' Fom Meet the Team on blackbird.video

I'm hoping they're trying to sell the he company to a major looking for a codec.

The Emmy was for Forscene, not blackbird.

The new site is poor and has bugs. Hopefully they'll fix it. We spent about €1,900 and got a better website by a recent graduate. My guess is fbt have gone to an agency and spent a lot and IMHO, the end result is disappointing....
