I guess you interpret the MM's games according to your position.

You were able to buy 29k chunks at 164p when the spread was 164p/167p.

Some interpret this as desperate market makers, trying to spook us by making buys get flagged as 'sells'.

Surely if MMs were keen on getting stock they'd be keen to give you a good price to sell? Yet if you tried to sell 29k you'd have struggled to get them away at 160p, tops.

In other words, the 'real spread' was more like 160p/164p, but by inflating the list price it temps buyers in, thinking they're grabbing a bargain. Classic retail trick!

Tuesday could be interesting.
