stephen1946, I stopped commercial driving because I reached the conclusion that the rewards fell far short of the potential risk. I have only been involved in one collision with a commercial vehicle. When the police eventually turned up, the car driver admitted straight away to the two policemen that it was entirely his fault, which indeed it was. Moments later I am sat in the back of a Range Rover getting the 'Good-cop Bad-cop routine'! The police were so prejudiced against truck drivers that they literally didn't 'hear' the mans confession. I pointed out the other chap had taken 100% responsibility, they looked at me in disbelief and one of them went to check, coming back looking rather surprised. "He's right you know, the other bloke said he's completely responsible". "Now you know why I wouldn't move the wagon until you could see the scene" I replied. After that the cops were as good as gold, but they are plainly primed to go after the professional driver!

A tragic case with the elderly lady, but an accident, it should never have come to a court case.

!YOUTUBEVIDEO:uvxsElaHcuI:
Will FirstGroup hit at speed bump following Thursday’s full year results?

The main reason for its recent rise is speculation that the firm could be broken up. Coast Capital Management are trying to force change at the company with a list of demands, top of which being the separation of its US assets – which includes Greyhound, First Transit and First Student buses, alongside the A-Train – to generate £3 billion in re-investable capital.

It also thinks FirstGroup should remove itself from the British railway arena, a move that would effectively hand the West Coast Mainline to a consortium led by the Chinese state-owned Guangshen Railway Company. Coast Capital also wants a serious shake-up at the top.

Investors will want word of when the rescheduled general meeting requested by Coast Capital will happen, alongside an improvement at the struggling Greyhound bus division.

About time they got round to some of the long standing management issues and delivering value. I hope all appropriate means to mobilising inherent value might include break up or sale of the company. Not sure if they have got the bottle.

So it seems that today's rise, and yesterday's is based on the suggestion at yesterday's AGM that they are "progressing" with the sale of Greyhound, is that right?

Only another 9p and one of my purchases will be in profit, not holding my breath.

alfaetrin, All you have to do is incognito buy a Greyhound roving ticket on the East Coast of the USA and you will realise within a few hours what's wrong. It's quite plain that no one from management has done this, and equally plain that they disdain their own customers. A great brand, and icon of working America, just about destroyed by what looks and feels like arrogant incompetence. It's probably just as well that the passengers don't know that it's owned by a bunch of clueless brits. I imagine that when they took it over they just went to town with the cost cutting knife, that's what it looks and feels like. Perhaps they can't tell the difference between bathwater and a baby?

Just bought in @ 88p for a bit of a punt. I'm hoping that Greyhound will finally be given some management attention. Another bid should see a good lif too. Still plenty of downside, though.
