01/3/2016 17:14 | The problem with broker's views is they are behind the curve. It's very likely that gold has broken out of it's long-term downtrend and is currently consolidating above the $1200 level. Analysts say the immediate target is the $1300 level to confirm the Dec bottom is in. Very shortly, the moving averages will form a golden cross as they all trend upwards together. The technical picture is looking promising, so far. FQM are projecting 215,000 oz in 2016 and 225,000 oz in 2017-2018. Back in 2008, during the credit crunch, gold came off it's lows and then doubled in value 3.5 years later. The picture for copper is also improving as it picks itself up from lows. Key bank economists are forecasting a new up cycle for commodities which will begin this year. 000's 2016 2017 2018 -------------------- Group Copper - tonnes - excluding Sentinel 400 400 407 -------------------- Sentinel - Copper - tonnes 135-155 210-240 230-260 -------------------- Nickel - contained tonnes 40 40 42 -------------------- Gold - ounces 215 225 225 -------------------- Zinc - tonnes 26 20 20 -------------------- Platinum - ounces 30-40 30-40 35-40 -------------------- Palladium - ounces 24-30 24-30 25-30 -------------------- What's not to like? | pixi | |
