Gents and Ladies >

The agm is poorly timed for me, and sadly i am unlikely to attend.

I nonetheless expect allies upon this board to ask the right questions, gl

Sorry

De Beers Slashes Low Quality Diamond Prices.

De Beers SA has slashed prices by up to 10% for low-quality diamonds at an upcoming sale, signalling market turmoil at the bottom end of the market, said sources.

Trying to find how to get hold of the broker note, maybe a question for the AGM!

Dave,

20P?

Are they serious?

I'd love to read the reasoning behind that prediction, of a 400% increase!

A broker note was issued on FDI this week:Firestone Diamonds: Canaccord reiterates speculative buy with a target price of 20p.

That does make sense, a geologist would argue that concentrations could be higher or lower at different areas and depths. Either way the initial forecast does seem to have been far too optimistic and 6million tons is an awful lot of dirt to find nada.

Given FDI have now processed ~6 million tonnes of ore through the new plant, it is of concern that recovery of large gem diamonds is significantly below what their feasibility study calculated/expected.
The tonnage processed and carats recovered is now statistically relevant and should give a clear indication of expected grade and diamond quality expected to be recovered in the future.
Yes, there will be statistical outliers (ie. large gems) however the more they process it is only the very large stones that become more likely to be recovered as the smaller gem quality stones should have already statistically been seen if they are there.

Happy to keep the faith with FDI think they are in the strongest position they have ever been in to recover decent sized stones now, so for me the shares are at least a hold/accumulate at this level. If your not in yet would say they are a decent speculative buy and hold. Still a big risk if they don't recover enough decent sized stones but overall I feel fairly optimistic the risk reward is in our favour at around this price and where the mine is now in terms of its development.

tanelorn,

I don't share your optimism I'm afraid, but happy to be proved wrong of course!

We are slowly being diluted with every scrip payment in lieu of interest, not too much but it is accumulating over time.

astgroom is correct, indeed it might be a forlorn hope, but IF, we improve, the upside is huge.

Admittedly as time passes the chances diminish.

We do have a year, imo

Yes, but one or two decent diamond could change all the debt, and thats my play, it would also extend mine life and give the Mine a fair chance, Otherwise you are correct, we screwed. But I'm optimistic, and bought another 50k this morning.

dave/ast,

You seem to be ignoring the debt!

We're not even paying the interest, issuing scrip instead!

Based on:Specials are appearing, though not all totally fab.The deeper we go the better the quality, and we are getting much deeper in the good zones. There is cash in the bank for the near term, so we have some time, and a few quarters, which is alot of earth to be moved as we go deeper. All IMHO.

I do agree that the company is in the best position it has been in for a very long time and the share price is at an all time low. Unloved and off the radar of most investors, a really good stone or two would change that and that's not to far from the realms of possibility given the posive update recently
