18/7/2002 15:31 | rdj20 - fins were not taken over by another spreadbetting company. They were taken over by ifx to complement their existing core business which is not spreads. big vern - 3 points on the nas, 6 points on the nas - who has better spreads and also offer tax free winnings. | cheve
18/7/2002 15:24 | as I remember they were recently taken over. Perhaps this is a deliberate ploy by the new owners (another spread betting company) to eliminate them from the market? | rdj20
18/7/2002 15:18 | Ah! Back in.. Down 44 points ! Thanks fins.. | hagstrom
18/7/2002 15:14 | Very dissapointing.!!! Can't even login.. | hagstrom
18/7/2002 14:46 | getting GNI next week. Can't wait! ;-) | rdj20
18/7/2002 10:52 | fins down ??? | errol6429
17/7/2002 17:59 | Morraly bankrupt - the mini FTSE is very thinly traded compared to the real thing (£10 a point) so liquidity could be a problem | sdawson
17/7/2002 15:57 | OMG OMG ITS DOWN AGAIN !!! | errol6429
17/7/2002 15:29 | What a dead loss, Ive been waiting over 3 minutes for a DOW quote now, and yes, its dropped over 20 points while I wait. FINS failures are just too regular now, Im convinced traders are getting too good and FINS are actually losing on the DOW so they have resorted to trying to put us off. To ANYONE considering opening an account DONT DO IT until a bit of honesty creeps back into their trading system. :-(( | robber
17/7/2002 15:02 | Well what do you know - telephone trading only on the DOW again. They might as well publish a new timetable for internet trading ! Regular as clockwork ! | qwento
16/7/2002 18:28 | zzaxx99, remember greed is good not evil ;-) | rdj20
16/7/2002 17:53 | Well, if they have capacity constraints, it could be explainable by the large movemement swings causing a mass of users hitting the trade button at the same moment. Doesn't excuse it, but it might not necessarily be caused by "evil intent" | zzaxx99
16/7/2002 17:26 | its a little too hard to believe that FS's trading platform can have technical faults (forcing it to go offline) at the exact moment of very large movement swings in the market on a regular basis. The past few days have been some of the most volatile i have ever experienced. how most convenient that their trading platform has been at its most 'technically unreliable' at the same time. | valencia
16/7/2002 16:39 | GLOBEX ES ES 1969 1575 3938 I think you need 125% of $1969 for each share price contract intraday. SPAN initial margin requirements are subject to the following Interactive Brokers minimums: Futures 125% of Maintenance Margin Trading mini FTSE at £2 a point looks like the cheapest way to start and cant do too much damage! " | morraly bankrupt
16/7/2002 16:22 | MB - I may be wrong, but I think the figures you give above are min margin requirements for each contract, which is not quite the same as minimum account size. I am fairly confident that they won't let you open an account for less than $10,000. As I said, I looked at the trading interface and hated it. The Global one is the PATS system, which I like. Could just be a personal thing of course. dcb | dead cat bounce
16/7/2002 16:18 | Currency Minimum Initial Deposit USD USD 2,000 EUR EUR 2,400 GBP GBP 1,450 CHF CHF 3,600 HKD HKD 15,600 AUD AUD 6,000 How that grab ya, looks okay 2 me, how much is the FTSE £50 per tick i think there is a mini ftse now too but L11 cost £25pm. | morraly bankrupt
16/7/2002 16:04 | DCB, don't have an ac but I know yanks who do who are real pros, they love it. Traderstation is the software. Traderstation are NAS listed so must be a big co. they charge $10 for CME prices. Traderstation is free. I'll check out margin requ. | morraly bankrupt
16/7/2002 16:00 | MB - when I was choosing a US broker, Interactive were high on my list, having been recommended by other traders that I know. It is true that their commission rate is very low. However, two things put me off. Their trading interface is truly awful (that may only be a personal opinion, I would be interested to hear from others who use it) and they have a much bigger minimum account size and margin requirement than Global Futures. From memory, their minimum account size is $10,000. I think the amount required to trade 1 S&P emini contract is $2500 but not sure about that. Global's min a/c size is $2500 and you can (if you are brave enough) trade 5 eminis with that! dcb | dead cat bounce |
