Chart appears to be bouncing from a lower high after the recent sell on news. I've had this on my watch since new year and have bought my first batch today. There have been some decent lumps get bought today (not mine, I'll tell you if my lump is decent when I'm ready to sell it) so hopefully start of the next leg up.

Worth a read, very upbeat....

NetPark-based firm returns to profit amid strong demand

A TECHNOLOGY company hopes new contracts can provide scope to bolster operations at a North-East factory.

Filtronic says it cannot rule out expansion at its County Durham base after a reversal of financial losses left the business “in a healthier position than it has been for several years”.

Rob Smith, chief executive, told The Northern Echo the firm was in talks with potential customers, which if successful, could create jobs at its NetPark broadband site, in Sedgefield.

The plant is known for developing Filtronic’s Orpheus e-band transceivers, which increase the amount of data phone networks can carry, and will play a key role in a £13m national security deal to supply high-frequency modules to a defence equipment maker for aerospace work.

However, Mr Smith said potential remains for its order book to ramp up further, with new staff added to support such growth, if ongoing contract negotiations prove fruitful.

Talking yesterday, after a financial update showed Filtronic had recorded a £1.8m operating profit in the six months to November 30, Mr Smith said those talks still had some way to go, but revealed bosses were feeling increasingly confident.

He told the Echo: “This is what we have been working to; it’s a good solid performance.

“It’s been a superb job by the team and our goal now is to win additional customers.

“We are feeling pretty bullish about the opportunities but we are also under no illusions “As soon as we achieve one milestone, there is another to go for.”

Filtronic was previously forced into a cost-cutting drive after delays to product introductions hit revenues.

Bosses subsequently launched a turnaround plan, revealing defence and aerospace contracts would complement deals in the cyclical telecoms sector, and Mr Smith said the blueprint was working well.

The £13m aerospace deal won’t start until towards the end of its current financial year, however, Mr Smith said its impact was already tangible since it is providing a platform to showcase the company’s expertise.

Having risen 30% recently to a prior rst point & 123% from base that T/U was prob well priced in. Single broker a touch enthusiastic. Strange negative skew LT monthly chart here but does seem to have flipped positive now with Jan B/O - LT rise from 11 to c.24 possible if they keep the numbers rising. LT cup n handle shape on the Williams & share price

Opportunity for longer term believers to get on board, I would have thought. Will be interesting to see how the journos read the results, but the chart looks very good for the longer term recovery and bowl. IMO.

Fantastic turnaroud. A bit of profit taking today. We always knew the lumpy nature of contracts here but they are addressing the customer base, etc. Strong hold for me.

I don't think it's really that negative - overall the picture is good. Drop is a little overdone and now appears to be pulling back up.

Not unexpected - they signalled this in the trading statement. Even if the second period is only half of first half, they would still do £33m turnover over full year, which is significantly greater than current mkt cap of £23m. This suggests the company is still very good value. imo.

Is this correct, filtronic was tipped in Techinvest as well as SCSW. Have to admit that I did not realise that Techinvest still existed ! Anyway , two tips in one weekend is a jolly good start to the year, but what I would really like to see now is for the house broker to get 100 percent behind the stock and really broke the story with a view to creating new buyers who can take Aberforth off the Register once and for all.It really should not be that difficult given that the house broker currently has a price target which is aproximately twice the level of the share price, even after allowing for today's welcome rise !

I feel that the real upside will start to show through when there is definite news of a broader customer base.

Meanwhile the present uptick is most welcome and very pleasing to see FTC featuring as one of the ten SCSW 2017 NAP SELECTIONS, in their January 2017 edition, published over this past weekend.

Decided to join you here gents. I like the chart, the PanGor target seems suitably ambitious; and R&M buying looks like great confirmation of the story. As Angus says, climate is risk-on for takeover; but otherwise, onwards and upwards to greater things.

Nasdaq:CRNT has been on fire this year. From $2.60 start of 2017 to $3.47 yesterday. Could FTC make SCSW and/or Techinvest 2017 NAPS?
