And manager of Fidelity's China Special Situations Anthony Bolton remains, of course, positive.
"The Chinese economy has not been slowing down as fast as earlier expected and this will probably now happen in 2011. However, I continue to believe that the growth rate in China will still be very attractive relative to the growth rates being seen in the developed world."
And so, the investor is still left twisting in the wind; on the one had emerging markets offer unprecedented and ever-increasing growth, the likes of which will never be seen again in the west, on the other hand, a bubble could be forming. | tenapen
16/12/2010 10:28 | I think for those who have studyed Mr Bolts strategy it is not to invest in the Exports but look at the companies who will supply the 2Billion people coming in to the middle classes over the next 10 years or so. All will need washing machines, mobile phones...etc
I'm invested for the long term | markycrispy

02/12/2010 09:24 | It's wanting to move north again.... only the NAV is holding it back!! | woodpecker25
28/11/2010 18:38 | Bit more on allocation

23/11/2010 10:54 | Agreed - there's a lot more than meets the eye regarding China at the moment | roman2325
23/11/2010 09:10 | A very interesting article, thanks for posting it roman. I do feel very sorry for the small business owner, must be very frustrating to have such volatile macro actions impacting your business to such an extent! | andyh21

This is going down | roman2325
22/11/2010 11:08 | aha!! I like your thinking then Whizzy ;) | andyh21
19/11/2010 14:35 | Structurally they have to raise rates to and I agree that China strengthening their own economy can in turn only be good for global growth. Short-term pain for long-term gain blah blah
Not massively bearish on anything at the moment - this was simply a special situation. I'm long a couple of small-caps and US big-caps but see a lot of sectors simply drifting for a while so not confident enough to place any big bets | roman2325
19/11/2010 14:18 | Yeh, I suppose it depends on your view, long or short term! looks like China's set to increase rates around 100 basis points over the next 12 months, personally i see it as a good thing but each to their own opinion, good luck!
Just out of opinion if you don't mind, i'd say i'm still long around 20/30% and becoming more bearish on the markets for 2011/12, what sort of other stocks are you looking at to produce negative returns? thanks | andyh21
19/11/2010 14:03 | Andy - this is just the precursor for all rates going up in China - which is not good for the Chinese economy. I understand why the blind bulls are saying China is good long-term bet but short and mid-term their markets are not going up. I'm short FCSS so good day for me! | roman2325
19/11/2010 12:15 | NAV at 1.12 again but general market sentiment is taking this one down! China bank deposit rates raised .50 basis points! a good thing in the long term but the market seems to have such a short term focus lately! oh well if we fall back to £1.14 or lower I will buy more! | andyh21
19/11/2010 08:49 | Agree with that Andy | roman2325
19/11/2010 08:45 | ha ha! that would be lovely whizzy but even an optomist such as my good self would be surprised to see £1.25 today! maybe a close of £1.22 if nav's back above 112, which may struggle with china broadly mixed last night! | andyh21
19/11/2010 08:40 | You're on crack Whizzy | roman2325
18/11/2010 17:06 | I expect the share price to be 125p by close Friday lol | whizzy1
18/11/2010 12:30 | I expect Nav back to 112 tomorrow, 114 by monday, that will bring the premium to around 6/7%! | andyh21
18/11/2010 12:28 | Trade at NAV !!! - if only my other chinese play in PMHL would trade at NAV - Currently it trades at a discount to cash in the bank and around 40% of NAV - though the company has also stated its wish to narrow the gap between the share price and net asset value. Interims scheduled for next week. | dr contrarian
18/11/2010 12:20 | New NAV of 109p! This is trading at 122p!! The company wants it to trade at NAV! THIS IS A SHORT!!!!!! | roman2325
