Fever tree have always advertised at tube stations and in magazines but first time I saw the tv ad this weekend as well. It wasn’t the best ad I’ve ever seen...

This is marvellous news. Those that continue to advertise during difficult times come out the other end by far the best. The easiest way to cut costs is to pull adverts as part of the money for the year has not been spent and no one votes to sack themselves instead....

Emmerson 6p at the moment, 24p within 2 months, £2.96 within 2 years.
Sell a few Fevertree and put some into Emmerson, it’s going to be huge.

Off-trade BWS growth slows but still tops 30% – Nielsen
| 27 May, 2020

The pace of off-trade alcohol sales growth slowed in the second full week of May according to new Nielsen data.

But the continued closure of the on-trade means that growth was still running at 30% for total BWS in the week to May 16, compared to the same time last year.

The week ending May 9 had seen Nielsen previously report growth of 50%, a spike fuelled by the lead-up to the D-Day Bank Holiday.

Beer (+36%), spirits (+35%) and cider (+33) had the fastest growth in the week to May 16. Still wine was up 26% and sparkling wine rose 15%.

More good news for Fevertree, Majestic are a huge seller of Fevertree-

Majestic reopens stores for customer collection
| 27 May, 2020

Customers are being allowed to visit most Majestic wine stores from today for the first time in over two months – but only to collect orders placed online or by emailing stores direct.

The 200 stores closed their doors on March 23, two days before the government introduced lockdown measures on retailers, in a bid to protect staff and customers.

It has since sold wine only through deliveries despite off-trade drinks shops being added to the government list of essential retailers.

In response to customer and staff feedback, Majestic began trialling a collection service in a number of branches a fortnight ago.

It said that enhanced safety measures including protective screens and social distancing had now enabled it to roll out a next day collection service to the vast majority of stores.

The share price looks like it has legs (unlike me after a glass or few of G&T) so I've accumulated again today on the way up.
I see resistance, medium term (1 year plus) on a TA basis, at £25.
Longer term I'm still in the dark... or should that be the haze?

Good luck all gin guzzlers!

Yep, I was thinking about the logic after reading CT's post.
In a pub, bar, whatever, you get served measures whereas at home you pour directly from a bottle. In the latter there's no constraint on the quantity (even with steady hands Lol).
Secondly, at home, there's no time constraint.
And, finally, I suspect there's a lot more "social" drinking going on at home than the Stasi are observing.

Anyway, looks like priming for a take-off. 1885's my marker.

Good luck!

Simple, people drink more gin at home than the pub. I expect sales to be well up on 2019. Many people are actually better off under lockdown (those who had office jobs and are now working from home). Easy to justify buying premium tonic when you’re saving money on petrol, not going to restaurants, for myself a few days rent mid week. My credit card bill has halved! The new sodas are pretty good. Very summery, will go down well with the ladies I expect. Let’s hope the pubs stay shut until xmas :)

I went long at the end of last week - in small way as part of a small basket of esoteric recent momentum (Microwave Vision SA, Kornit Digital and Hilton Food Group). The off trade is likely covering on the on trade losses in the UK, and other places have started to open up. There is some overhead resistance on the slow moving average, but a flag is forming. It isn't a broken company, and thus is more attractive than the swathe of businesses that are, and that must make money flow asymmetric. Better to overpay for slow growth than to lose everything, and the hurdle rate to beat over the medium term is pretty close to zero.
