I dont like any investment to go over 20% of my portfolio. Trouble is, no matter how many I sell, it keeps breaking that threshold!!!!!!!

bellbottom.
I think you are wrong about murderous thug Putin as he just puts 2 fingers up to the west normally and it is quite possible he will launch a full scale invasion of Ukraine as he thinks NATO and the west would not help Ukraine to any great extent .
FXPO has great looking chart and NOR situation over 397 .

If Russia and China do form some kind of mutually beneficial alliance, not just based on trade but based on empire, then the west would be in an impossible situation in combatting any invasion policies by both nations.

Good news re China's stance on Crimea.
Also, building of stronger ties between Ukraine and China can only be a good thing for Ferrexpo.

Yes Bozzy I noted the large drop at AAZ. 16p in three days. I'll be keeping a close eye.

Sorry, dont think my question was understood. Probably my grammar skills. If we pay tax to Swiss, do we also have to pay tax to uk. Does the fxpo tax count towards our 2000 divi allowance.

Yes dividend is paid net of 35% tax in UK. Suggest you read posts 8359 and beyond relating to tax on dividends in ISA's, SIPPs and dealing accounts and the difficulty in claiming back etc.

Does anyone know if we pay swiss tax on the divi, does it make, what we have left, exempt from uk divi tax?

The dividend was given yesterday and the automatic reinvestment probably today or tomorrow. Shame they dont keep the good news announcements quiet until then. Our dividend reinvestment will be at over £4 rather than 3.60 from a couple of days back

That's great podgyted. The pellet premium is holding strong at $60.50, for a sensational $271.50 per tonne. A gross profit of $230 per tonne for FXPO! Absolutely incredible margin for any business.

12 million tonnes at that rate for a full year would earn $2.76 billion before overheads / tax / interest / depreciation / amortization. Probably around $2 billion bottom line.

And more positive noises yesterday regarding the Russia conflict.

The BBC article sf5 posted above is quite reassuring. Titled "Why Russia may not be planning the invasion that Ukraine fears". Mentions the fact that Biden phoned Putin for the first time since becoming President, and they're planning to meet in the near future.

Another good day for FXPO. Terrible day for AAZ. Bellbottom that's the bad news and reaction I was expecting. It'll probably trend downwards for a while yet. At £1 it's a 6.5% divi payer. Good value at that price, even if they just tread water for a few years regarding gold production.

I suppose it's a Catch-22 situation. Under NATO guidelines or rules, membership of NATO is not possible whilst there are territorial disputes with neighbouring countries. Putin already knows this and only has to maintain the instability for Ukraine to remain outside NATO.

It's been nearly thirteen years since NATO agreed that Ukraine would eventually be admitted as a member and seven years since Russia 'invaded' and effectively scuppered any possibility of a consensus amongst existing members. As long as Russia keeps up its war against Ukraine, there may be support from UK/US/EU but NO NATO membership.
