Https://concorde.ua/rs/daily/item_76520/ Some things never change. Another alleged arson attack on an anti-corruption activist in Kyiv. As I've stated before and no doubt bored you with repetition, this is an uphill struggle for Zelensky. An impossible task without the added backing of the majority of the population of Ukraine. So who's behind the attacks? The list of possibilities is a long one, including the possible involvement of Russia. It's the kind of background scenario that adds to the mix and is one of the elements that inevitably holds the share price back. BB

Somewhat out of date as to specific details and changing political landscape of Ukraine, but is an excellent summary of the oligarchic influence in Ukraine and helps in the realisation of how difficult it is to sever the links without spilling too much blood; figuratively speaking of course. 'Shenanigans' covers a lot of 'goings on' by Mr.Zhevago. There is very little news or updates relating to his ongoing situation. I was expecting he either pays off his substantial debts and fines or that the government starts to confiscate his various properties within Ukraine to cover those costs. There surely must be negotiations happening in the background, all very hush hush. I expect there will be some sudden announcement out of the blue, which hopefully will be good news for Ferrexpo and also for Mr.Zhevago, having agreed to cough up a small fortune to see the international warrant lifted. Don't forget that Zelensky held out a peace offering of sorts when he visited the Autokraz factory, owned by Zhevago. I thought that was significant. Basically asking him to 'come in from the cold,' at a price obviously. Maybe that price is now being negotiated? He pays off a few tens of millions or even 100's of millions, he gets to step back in as CEO and the share price rockets by a significant amount, almost cancelling out his debts and fines. Ok, a rather simplistic theory, but often the simplest answers to a problem are the best all round. Zelensky needs friends within Ukraine. Having friends in The West and within the IMF aint going to keep his popularity ratings up. If he can bring in Zhevgao without either man loosing too much face, then we have a win, win, win situation for Zelensky, Zhevago and Ferrexpo. And surely Autokraz would also start getting some serious contracts with the Ukrainian government, which would also boost Zhevago's wealth and standing within Ukraine. As they say, it's a 'no brainer' as far as I'm concerned. I can even see Mr.Zhevago becoming an MP again in the not too distant future. You've got to remember, he pumped a huge amount of his own money into the Poltava region on social projects - schools, sports facilities etc. Enough said. Excellent article on the issues facing Zelensky. Caught between a rock and a hard place. The question is, why should a one time TV star comedian who played the Ukrainian president on his TV show "Servant of the People" succeed as a real president where others of greater experience have failed? You could argue that he really is a servant of the people and not just some oligarch ruler with oligarch buddies with big businesses to protect; where the people are way down the list of priorities. But even if he is as clean as the driven snow, there are many out there that wish to see him fail and will do everything in their power to ensure that happens. I believe half year results issued on 5th August. May see a modest climb up to that date and then the predictable fall back, even if results exceed expectations. BB

Poltava GOK launched section 9 of the concentrator 07/16/20 18:07 seal text size: Poltava GOK has launched a new technological complex for the production of finished products "Section No. 9" of the processing plant. Ferrexpo press service reports. The total cost of the project was over USD 100 million (over UAH 3 billion, including VAT). This investment has already made it possible to ensure payments to the state budget and budgets of other levels in the amount of about 400 million hryvnias and will further bring to budgets of different levels up to 300 million hryvnias annually. Also, thanks to the implementation of this project, additional jobs have already been created. As noted in the message, this project for the production of finished products is the only one of its kind among similar enterprises not only in Ukraine, but also in the CIS countries. Section 9 is a modern complex of the production chain, which includes additional crushing and dressing areas, a new electrical substation, a system for the transfer of prepared raw materials and finished products, as well as additional conveyor lines. Every part of this huge project has been installed and assembled in accordance with the world's best practices and guidelines. The main equipment manufacturer for Section 9 is Metso Outotec (with production facilities in Sweden and the USA). Many other leading world companies also participated in the project implementation process. Construction took over four years. As the chairman of the board of the Poltava GOK Victor Lotous noted, Ukrainian contractors from different regions (from 500 to 1000 people in different periods of construction) were involved in the implementation of this project, which provided additional employment in different sectors of the country's economy and additional revenues to the budgets of all levels. "Despite the objective difficulties and instability of the global industry market, the Company was able to implement the project as part of Ferrexpo's investment plan for sustainable development," he added. This project will make it possible to produce an additional 2 million tons of finished products. This will increase the sales of the enterprise by about 2 billion UAH per year, starting from July 1 this year. The project launch date is July 2020. The implementation of this project will increase the installed capacity of the enterprise to more than 15 million tons of concentrate per year. The effect of the project will already be noticeable in the second half of 2020.

Iron Ore price. Up around 10% in a week. Under normal circumstances we'd see fxpo rise on the back of it. But these are not normal times of course. More IMF/NBU discussions. The taint of fraud and corruption must be removed from Ukraine and by association, fxpo. Real or imagined, the lingering smell is one reason the price is being held back. We should be well over £2.00 by now, despite the recent Barclays downgrade, which I link to but take with a large pinch salt!
