"The possible northward extension of the Brasse Discovery on the eastern side of the Brage Field".

Yes Wbodger it is interesting that the new area is so precise, the wording suggests a specific target in mind, do they have access to previous seismic?

Thanks, r, that what I was looking for. Didn't read the panel on the NPD page.

Combining it with the interims presentation illustration gives a good idea. The Brasse discovery already extends beyond its licence area into PL185, which is the Brage JV (and includes FPM and Point in smaller proportions than PL740).

Presumably the need for certainty about Brasse is connected with negotiations with the PL185 JV. Also, to apply for just part of the unallocated space between Brage and PL824 suggests they have a good model of the geology (I mean, why not take it all and later hand some back? Was it contested?)

This has a link to a map which does show where PL740B is, although rather small.

"Faroe Petroleum is also pleased to announce that the Licence PL740 partnership has committed to the drilling of an appraisal well on the Brasse discovery in mid-2017 (Faroe 50%). Faroe as operator has entered into a contract with Odfjell Drilling for the use of the semi-submersible drilling rig, Deepsea Bergen, for the drilling operations.

Faroe announced the Brasse oil and gas discovery in PL740 in July 2016. The main wellbore 31/7-1 encountered an 18 metre gross gas column and a 21 metre gross oil column, and the sidetrack well (31/7-1A) encountered a 6 metre gross gas column and 25 metre gross oil column, with both wells encountering good quality Jurassic reservoir. Total gross volumes of recoverable hydrocarbons have been estimated by the Company to be 28-54 mmbbls of oil and 89-158 bcf of gas (43-80 mmboe gross in aggregate). The main objectives of the appraisal well are to reduce the uncertainty in the reserves estimates and to provide important additional information for the development project".

They don't say where the appraisal well will be in relation to the original drill which is in the north west of PL740. The yellow area in the interims map extends a long way north and south of the drill site, don't know how much of that is wishful thinking? Time for some more cartoons like we used to get in the days of Pil, but then again many of those sadly did turn out to be wishful thinking!

Another Walrus (Kvalross), hmm, you didn't think that through, rogerlin ;) But OTOH we're not going to get much credit for a discovery in this market, so I'm not too fussed, just so long as it doesn't take six months. I don't think there has been enough market activity to look for early drilling rumours.

Going back to Brasse, the new licence PL740B doesn't show on NPD yet, and it isn't obvious where it is, except that in the latest RNS Blocks 31/4 and 31/7 are both mentioned. I'm guessing it includes some of the relinquished original part of PL055, also east of PL185, and east of Brasse (PL740). That would make it long (and thin?). The only shape I can find is from the FPM interim results presentation, page 3.

"The prospect is in 1,300 feet of water and drilling is scheduled to take 55 days".

I have seen this comment a couple of times but it is not from Faroe and I don't know if it has any validity. If they find something they may need longer, to test or side track, let's hope so. Not likely to hear anything in under a month from spud even in the dry hole case.

We could do with an elephant (or rather a Walrus, this being the Barent's).

"Licence PL740 B Brasse extension - Block 31/4 and 31/7: Faroe (50% and operator), Point Resources (50%): The possible northward extension of the Brasse Discovery on the eastern side of the Brage Field. The work programme is the same as the existing PL740 Brasse licence (Faroe 50%)".

Looking at the NPD map for the present PL740 where the Brasse discovery is, to the immediate north is PL185 containing Brage. The acreage to the east is not licenced and is evidently where the new PL740B Brasse extension will be, immediately east is 31/7 and you have to go quite a way north, right up to level with Brage, to reach 31/4. This looks a promising area just going on the proximity to both Brasse and Brage.

Are you on the right board, shabi1? We seem to be up marginally again.

Good spot #7913, rogerlin, about new name for Snilehorn. If Snilehorn has been given a producing field name it suggests they are well on the way to a FID.

From the latest RNS, 'consolidating our position around the high quality 2016 Brasse discovery' is a boost over previous language. Brasse isn't especially deep, but the footprint seemed quite large. Maybe they will try to enlarge it before deciding on a development.

Purely in the vein of FWIW:-

18 Jan 17 Faroe Petroleum PLC Cantor Fitzgerald Hold 104.00 100.00 100.00 Downgrades

Haven't seen the actual update, so no idea of what cataclysmic event caused the downgrade(possibly just recent relative share price outperformance?) and reduction in target price by a whole 4 new pence-but there it is anyway.

While we are looking at these new names I see that Snilehorn has become Bauge, and is now listed as "Hyme and Bauge" on Faroe's website.

Four new Norwegian licenses:-

Graham Stewart, Chief Executive of Faroe Petroleum, commented:

"We are very pleased to announce the award of four important new licences in the latest Norwegian licensing round. We have added new exploration plays to our portfolio as well as consolidating our position around the high quality 2016 Brasse discovery which we will be appraising later in 2017."

"We look forward to integrating these new licences into the exploration portfolio. The addition of good quality exploration acreage, our enhanced production portfolio and development pipeline ensures that we continue to expose our shareholders to balanced but high impact growth opportunities

"As contractor rates bottom out, investment will stabilize to around US$14 billion. Wood Mackenzie expects there will be at least three FIDs – Snorre Expansion, Njord Future and Snilehorn.

While this is less than the five we saw in 2016, there is a clear case of quality over quantity and Norway will continue to stand out globally,” Boroujerdi said. “All five FIDs in 2016 were subsea tie-backs, but 2017 marks a clear step-change in scale. Statoil’s Snorre Expansion, Njord Future and Snilehorn combined will recover reserves of around 400 MMbbl and bring investment of $6 billion".

Offshore Energy has a bulletin that might be read as an update on Scarabeo 5 at Njord:

hxxp://www.offshoreenergytoday.com/statoil-hires-six-anchor-handlers-for-rig-moves-in-norway/

Scarabeo-5 needs a Pre-lay job, so presumably is about to move away from Njord. (There isn't a R/M showing on Hagland, although the Offshore bulletin does reproduce a different broker's details.) All 6 vessels are currently working, the KLs on ENI's Scarabeo-8 assignment (Bone) which can now release them. Perhaps they are on the way back from the Barents.

Scarabeo-5 assignment may be another Production job for Statoil.

Thanks for answer to my question, "what's Deepsea Bergen for". Answer: Brasse Appraisal well. Brasse is a bit deeper than the Faroe-operated blocks in the south NNS and was drilled last year by T/O Arctic, so using the semisub is consistent.

Also reference by GS in the RNS to "early stage development activity" probably means Oda, and possibly Pil. SE Tor not mentioned.
