I just did a quick websearch for Beetaloo Basin news. Perhaps the reason we haven’t heard of the start of drilling is that it is being challenged in court by retail billionaire Brett Blundy who invested in the NT cattle station that hosted Origin’s 2016 well:
hxxps://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-06-23/billionaire-businessman-takes-on-origin-energy-supreme-court-nt/11237598
Amungee Mungee station owners are seeking to halt government approval processes
Retail magnate Brett Blundy's company BB Retail Capital and co-owners Bullwaddy Pastoral Co are accusing the gas company of not properly consulting them about the environmental risks associated with the planned "test fracking" operation.
They're seeking to stop the NT Government from approving test fracking on part of the station, in the first case of its kind for the Territory.
Mr Blundy has invested millions of dollars into buying and developing several NT stations including Amungee Mungee, near Daly Waters, 600 kilometres south of Darwin.
In 2013, he invested $6.5 million for the 320,000-hectare station. He also owns two other nearby cattle stations, OT Downs and Mungabroom.
The station hosted Origin Energy's first test well in 2016.
That generated the gas industry's excitement about the Beetaloo Basin region, and predictions the area contains enough gas to power Australia for 200 years.
But since the Territory Labor Government's three-year moratorium on fracking was lifted in April, the relationship has soured.
BB Retail Capital and Bullwaddy Pastoral Co, owned by Katherine pastoralists Adrian and Emma Brown, are trying to force Origin Energy to admit it hasn't properly carried out legally required stakeholder engagement.
The station owners have alleged the gas company didn't give them time to respond to the anticipated environmental risks of fracking.
In launching the Supreme Court action, they are also seeking to prevent the Territory Government considering or approving Origin's test fracking plan.

Mirabeau - that is not such a bad strategy.... : )

It will be interesting to see what kind of test results Santos come up with...

Not sure when those are due?

Mirabeau - thanks for posting that UBS assessment.

Based on those numbers ( see page 23 / 24 ), it looks like the share price here should be significantly higher if the risked value of Beetaloo were to be mirrored in the share price or at least target share price?

Thoughts, anyone?

An article in Oil & Gas Australia today: hxxps://www.oilandgasaustralia.com.au/woodmac-says-beetaloo-basin-bring-long-term-gas-supply-australias-east-coast-market/ . They note: 'ACCORDING to research by Wood Mackenzie, Australia’s Beetaloo basin is the only new gas resource with sufficient scale to supply the east coast market in the long term.' But with caution: “To compete with the LNG netback price, unconventional plays will need to breakeven at between US$7 and US$9 (per mcf). For the Beetaloo, a development would need at least 5 tcf and significant associated liquids to meet this after accounting for pipeline costs,” added Meredith.
And it is not just about cost. To progress the project, the regulatory process will need to be scalable to meet the number of wells required, the fiscal environment will need to be stable, and operators will need stakeholder support.
“There is also competition out there, including proposals to import LNG into the east coast market. We anticipate at least one import terminal progressing, but even so, the need for new sources of unconventional gas supply will continue to grow,” Mr Meredith said.

The CEO doesn't mention that the proceeds will be used for royalty payments..."The net proceeds of the Placing will primarily be used to fund Falcon's share of estimated capital expenditure in respect of the drilling and hydraulic fracture stimulation of four horizontal wells in the Beetaloo Sub-basin, Australia."
