You can have a bit of fun with Google Trends exploring mattress web searches. It's clear to see the initial CV-19 dip as the country went into lockdown followed by an uptick for the search term "mattress"... Interest in the search term "eve mattress" appears constant relative to "mattress".

There is usually a big increase in sales of new beds/mattresses as one heads into the Autumn - It is nice to see the EVE mattresses on an opening page of online NEXT.

I have to admit with my recent success with shares that sell musical instruments over the internet I was thinking why not mattresses.... So I bought a few - I cant help but feel, with lots more spare time, working from home some people will be re-kiting out the house - including getting rid of that annoying old mattress ....

Was reading the latest batch of trust pilot reviews. I appreciate its an, effectively, anecdotal piece of evidence on the current demand and outlook but it made pleasant reading.

My big takeaway being that it does seem clear that people are investing in home comforts such as new beds/mattresses during lockdown and, very interestingly, I see comments from buyers that have dipped their toes in the water with small purchases such as pillows and allude to going back for the big ticket items like a mattress. Suggests the eve focus on buying experience / sleep wellness leading to repeat custom is working.

More good news for EVE, even if 25 stores of Bensons close let alone the forecast of 50 closures.

The company appointed PwC as administrator on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Harveys’ sister company Bensons for Beds is to be bought back by its existing owner, Alteri Investors, through a pre-pack administration that is expected to be confirmed on Tuesday.

Between 150 and 175 of Bensons’ stores are expected to remain open under its revamped ownership, meaning that roughly 50 will close permanently following the deal."

I would agree with you richie07. other than being a takeover target, as I believe this has a lot for mileage in it before a big player strikes.

When the valuation hits £100m then pay a real premium on top. would you rather in in Boohoo or EVE?

Oh and the cash position of eve is a good place to be too! Isn't it 7.5m in the bank with a 100k pcm burn. As I've said before, I will be amazed if these aren't a takeover target if the share price stays where it is.

I think so. Positives: already profitable before central costs. The last update pointed to the lockdown being beneficial due for a couple of reasons - increase in online shopping, people looking to spend on home comforts and lack of bricks and mortar competition. Add to that mix Casper and others leaving the U.K. market and I think the future looks good. The big question for me will be the outlook and guidance for the second half of the year.

A good start, I wonder how much Casper disappearance will add sales to EVE?

If it adds 5% even that could make a considerable difference and to the bottom line.

This is well worth a punt taking all factors into account bearing the cash that is sitting on the books it looks undervalued, as long as long as CC does not open her purse, spending the pounds on face-lifts rather than investments that bring instant returns, and no more staff.

So with Next opening up again, there could be a boost to the business.

Eve need a killer product to really get top spot. They could find there is a huge market in thinner mattresses, sold as replacements for all those bed-settees that could do with a brand new one. I am not sure if there is anyone catering for that market. Maybe someone else that has researched the likes of EMA etc could enlighten the thread.

😉 If it was due to my posting richie07, it is good to know that someone is following this thread that has had a word with the right people in the company. I suggest they continue to monitor this thread, as there are many wise comments made by a lot of company followers on various aspects of the business and things they notice or report about the products, marketing etc.

Also, nice to have a women leading this company that has a good business record.
