The scoping study with NPV etc has not been released to the market therefore they are ‘inside’ and not permitted to purchase shares at this stage. If there are ongoing talks with third parties then, again, are also not permitted to purchase shares.

Exactly BlackSS - why hasn't he purchased any shares in the placings? Good question.

I dont believe other directors are buying during closed periods and letting on if they are.
That said what Lawrence has not mentioned is he could have bought in any of the numerous placings and where there is a will there is a way.
The reality is a guy like Lawrence could take on 100 junior miners and the chances of even one succeeding in minimal, they are always a great story but an appalling investment, there is 101 reasons for this, most way beyond managements control, they know what they are taking on, investors should know they have pretty much done their money if they are LTH but its the 1 in a 100 they are chasing and thats why the rewards can be so high.

Never read such a load of rubbish in my life and that's saying something. Other companies' directors have no problem at all in buying shares outside of closed periods. I'll give one good example of recent director buys where those said directors believe in the company and have stumped up the cash - Amerisur. The problem with this badly managed outfit is the top man and his crew obviously have very little faith in the future if they are not prepared to risk their own capital. Always a big red flag.

I still can't believe people are putting their hard-earned into this - given the mess the top man has made of EUZ and also BZT. They are at the shareholders' action group stage over there. Bless them. He is an appalling manager - take a look at VOG history too. One common theme - complete shareholder wealth destruction.

edited post - should have put "outside of closed periods"

Has anyone even thought about the difficulty directors face in only having very small windows of opportunity where they are allowed to legally buy shares in companies they work for? The rules make it very hard for them to invest unless it is in a formal CR. It's to do with not investing when they are aware of information which they are not allowed to release yet and which would deem them to have an unfair advantage over the general public. Imagine the hue and cry if LR and MC bought up big on market and when the figures were allowed to be released for the scoping report, the share price rapidly increased. Shades of "damned if you do, damned if you don't"? Bloody oath it is my friends!

I have heard interviews from a few directors who have pointed this out and one who even left a company so that he would be able to invest in it in the future in a time of his own choosing, without of course using any current unreleased privileged information.

It's always easy to cyber whip directors, but spare a thought that it may just be you that is in the wrong. We don't know what we don't know guys.

Couldn't agree more with your last three posts. Spot on! My cash certainly isn't 'spare' they say don't invest money you can't afford to lose but of course everyone does because they hope to make a better life for themselves. Management that always talk about not caring or worrying about the shareprice annoy the hell out of me. It's a public company you have a responsibility to care about the shareprice and look after people's investments as best you can!!!

Also interesting they say "we dont have any spare cash"
The whole point of them investing now is to reassure the markets. You dont do that with "spare cash". The fact its spare sort of detracts from the commitment. Its only when you go out on a limb to prove something you believe in that it carries any credibility.
The more i think about this point
"They don't really think, or care about the share price at all"
the more i wonder why they are publicly listed.
Management have an obligation to return shareholder value if at all possible, seems to me their ethos is in conflict with their duty.

I can understand the first part... disinterest in the daily share price as its usually driven by outside influences beyond their control however when they then use the share price is a source of capital as we have seen with near 100% dilution over the recent history they just contradict themselves....
I simply dont buy the "we dont have any spare cash" thing while they expect investors to suffer massive loses on an share price "they dont really care about"
Many people here have invested spare cash they dont really have, i dont recommend any one mortgages their house but most people can find a few K's if they really believe in something and right now they need to show they really believe because the silence is deafening.

Quite agree Black.

But LR & MC tell me that they don't have any personal cash to spare. A friend of mine asks why they don't put their own houses up for remortgage , if they really believe in the project and buy some shares in the market ? Also true.

Thing is, when I visited the site twice and met Management I finally understood that they look at the technical aspects of getting the mine running and keeping it going as a solvent concern. They don't really think, or care about the share price at all - only as a source of raising money to keep the company going.

I think that the next act of desperation from this lot will probably be to take Debt Financing on board to take them to FS. I hope not, but that's wot it looks like right now, unless they can find another well-heeled cornerstone investor who is willing to take the risk ?

And, as Little Leo says in "Wolf of Wall Street", "Rich Investors don't buy small companies - because they know they are *hit, that's why they are still rich investors" !!

The conclusion i have come to is that 99% of these companies are just a dream and their purpose is to sell you that dream. In fairness to management they usually believe in their own dream, not enough to invest in it, but enough to earn a living from it.
Right now there is one thing that might help investor confidence and thats to see management put their hand in their pocket and buy some of these at an all time low.
If they think this will recover, if they think this is the bottom and if they want others to invest then they need to lead the way or have a very good excuse why the markets should risk their money if they are not prepared to risk their own. Its not rocket science, either lead from the front or move over and let someone else have a go.

Soz, John Wayne was in "The Greatest Story Ever Told" - Apologies.

This was also the rumoured title of Justin Tooth's Autobiography, in respect of FCR - but it was never published , a bit like the FCR BFS !

I DID learn , very, very retrospectively, that the Moonlight Deposit very nearly DID get sold to a financing Outfit called Legacy Hill, which might have also been an "Earn Out", but they got cold feet at the very last minute and FCR had to close the whole thing down and sell it for Aus$ 1, to some African Outfit no-one has ever heard of, before, or since. C'est la Vie !

Lets hope that LR doesn't have to do the same thing with Toral ?

I'm very disappointed that LR hasn't come up with any statements Re: the share price fall over the past 3 weeks, together with future direction and how he is going to raise the money necessary to complete the FS and to Delist from the JSE & ASX markets ?

If all of these things were "In Hand" , as he claims them to be in "off the record" emails to other shareholders on LSE, then Shirley, they should have been enacted by now ?

And to quote John Wayne, in "The Robe" "Shirley , this Man, is the Son of Gawd ?" !

And don't call me Shirley. (Leslie Neilson, Airplane.).

IMHO. DYOR. GLA.

Took some of these as a recovery play. The big fall in the last month is way overdone imo. Just a decent update should see it start to recover. imo

TOM is dead in the water, has been for yonks. trying to develop a new way of extracting oil in a world which is cutting back on oil fast is daft especially given the cost per barrel to extract and the inevitable falling prices as people switch to electric.
Their recent excursion into palm oil demonstrates how desperate they are. Its a management life style company and not one that will lend any credibility to its directors.
