A great example is getting married. After years of "courting" holidays, living together, even children, when you walk down that Isle on your wedding day are you absolutely sure that the bint in the white dress is without doubt the only girl for you? What if you've got it horribly wrong? There is risk everywhere, but why is getting married such a gamble sometimes?

I try to take as much "risk" out of the equation, hence my several top slices, and try to educate myself about the risks I take, so investing isn't really a "gamble" as in a coin toss or lottery. I try to quantify the risk versus reward and get the numbers in my favour. There is always an element of risk or gamble in every human activity.

Patience and time are interlinked the rest is not applicable to shares. That is ofcourse if you are gambling then luck plays a big part.

I think they will try to be reasonably expeditious, and if negotiations look like they won't be fruitful all parties will want to back away also in a reasonably expeditious way. We must assume that a basic structure of a deal has been agreed, but absolutes may not be, ie specific price, and there may be other things outside of our control governing time scale, such as approvals, finance, covenants and even politics. We have to be patient.

I am not worried about this temporary price drop. If the palladium price was forecast to drop over the next 5 years I would be slightly worried but this is not the case. Either we sell or mine ourselves or a combination either way institutional investors not having my shares

congratulations to anyone that sold in the 40s. Not that long ago I was congratulating anyone that sold in the 30s. So who knows, next time I might be congratulating anyone that sold in the 50s. Asagi (short EUA)

I sold out at 43, been holding since 6p. Glad I did. Will buy back if it falls more. I feel you have to be smart these days, its not like the good old days where people acted with more integrity, honesty and transparency. I miss them days ( yes Im old ). People saying they trust the BOD etc, why do you know them? Not just here anywhere. They can have mates and family members buying shares and selling into orchestrated rises.

Agree, you do not want to lose nerve now this is a once in a lifetime opportunity the BoD have never let us down to date EUA updates always go to the wire, we are in a rinse repeat cycle once again. Also DLA Piper, UBS & co are still enagaged says it all, each to thier own but ii's are not getting my shares IMO.

with board members being remunerated on sale and no salary and parties only involved on commission, I know what I am doing.

Nothing wrong in taking a profit. This FSP is now in the 6th month and even myself a Long term holder is a little nervous. So much so that I sold 30% of my holding recently just in case no deal is agreed. We just dont know what the outcome will be. Hopefully patience will be rewarded but nothing is guaranteed

Underhill I don't think they are selling because of a no deal, I think they sell because they are impatient and are rainbow chasing. Good luck to them.

I guess the theory behind selling now is an assumption that the big news is not going to land this year and the share price should drift and buying cheaper in Jan 21.Might work but Im not willing to risk it.I believe there will be a deal so happy to wait for a bit longer.GL

Nobody knows when the deal will be announced, it could be announced on a weekend, maybe even tomorrow if they so wished.
