23/9/2010 20:43 | Kuoni's Chinese takeaway seems to be undercooked in parts. | ericardlussa
22/9/2010 13:53 | I called Seymour Pierce the other day and left a message about lack of info but this is out today: who knows what the heck is going on... maybe they can't find one of the main ETC shareholders... | sea and sky
20/8/2010 09:02 | any ideas on whassappenin' anyone? | sea and sky
27/7/2010 09:47 | Peach: not sure on this one - the statement "Kuoni and the Company are requesting certain confirmations from third parties regarding these matters in order to enable Kuoni to determine as soon as possible whether the relevant conditions to the Scheme have been satisfied or can be waived." seems simply as if they need some details from a 3rd party shareholder that they have yet to get. It may be nothing but watch this space I guess... | sea and sky
22/7/2010 18:31 | What are people's views on this deal being dead? Seems so for me. Unfortunately. | peach
18/7/2010 00:47 | BEIJING - The number of China's outbound travelers is expected to reach 52 million this year, up 7 percent year-on-year, the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) forecast in a report issued on Friday. From January to May this year, China's outbound travel tourists totaled 26.8 million, up 19 percent over the same period last year, according to the report posted on the CNTA's website. The report attributed the outbound tourism boost to stable development of China's economy and the appreciation of the yuan against the US dollar. Further, the number of domestic tours throughout the year in China is likely to reach 2.15 billion, up 13 percent year-on-year, the CNTA added. Did Kuoni get a brilliant deal here or what? A nice quick return on my investment but i so much wanted to remain invested in ETC for the years to come. | mattjos
23/6/2010 10:36 | FYI: recent dates of payments proposed and last dealing dates. also recent notification of interest (it sounds like a buy but it is not clear): | sea and sky
04/6/2010 11:13 | got it Davy .. you'll have mail in a bit | mattjos
04/6/2010 10:57 | I've just realised the 115p is still below the AIM issue price. I remember reading about their original IPO in a paper and thinking, china, travel, thats got to be good. Thankfully, I didnt buy in until much later when there was some real data to go on. Just shows the bargain Kuoni have here. | davydoo
04/6/2010 10:36 | Davy .. sometimes just luck really on the price ... i was closely watching as felt only yesterday was best day to exit. I don't like posting other stocks on boards at all ... if you post your email address & i'll mail you details on something that caught my eye this week if you like. very much a long shot though so don't get excited & needs much more research | mattjos
04/6/2010 10:07 | Well done Mattjos, you always managed to buy lower, and sell higher than me. I got out yesterday in two tranches at 105 and 107. There were just too many other opportunities that could use the funds rather than waiting for the deal to complete, and gain a few extra pence. Agree its unlikely to fall through though, and any meaningful decline would be a good opportunity for a swift profit. | davydoo
04/6/2010 10:00 | nets .. little to stop the share price drifting downward now until the deal is done or until such time as traders see it as worth a go on the deal completing .. so i would expect something even up to a 20% drift down now from the offer price .... back to 88-90 say before traders try to pick it for a quick gain on confirmation of the deal going ahead. I did get out yesterday at 108.25. I'd be surprised if the deal did not go ahead on the basis of Kuoni's holding size and the relationship with the BOD but you never know if a n other might try to spoil the party. fwiw, i did exchange an email with the CEO yesterday and he seemed pretty chuffed with things and the opportunity to work with a company as good as Kuoni going forward .... such a pity they are leaving us this way | mattjos
04/6/2010 09:00 | Shall i sell now or wait for offer? thanks | netsurfer
03/6/2010 22:42 | Mattjos - grats on ETC - held it a few years back and it never came to anything. Looked again more recently but didnt appeal. I guess Kuoni was the elephant in the room that i should have took more notice of. | stegrego
03/6/2010 20:06 | sorry guys but. not one for me. other fish to fry | mattjos
03/6/2010 19:08 | Indeed Greek Islander. I upped my stake there this morning aswell. Actually GNG seems a safer bet to me, theyre making a profit after already. | davydoo
03/6/2010 12:56 | See the ETC success has sent people over to GNG which has had its best day for months. | greek islander
03/6/2010 10:06 | Mattjos Davydoo et al Well done - congratulations. I got out a while ago at a loss because I lost patience. In the end all the logic for my buying in in the first place was proved correct as despite protestations to the contrary, Kuoni eventually have moved in formally. However I was so disillusioned (not incorrectly I may add) by the rubbish financial management here that I abandoned what I felt could be a sinking ship. However so pleased for those that stayed - really well done! Also very relieved because I tipped this to a very good friend and he retained the faith and has just made a mint. Great! | greek islander
03/6/2010 09:41 | Mattjos, can you come over to the ENK board and work some majic there! Best of luck to all ETC holders | desijohn
03/6/2010 09:10 | Well done Mattjos - happy days. Celeritas - you could look at SORB or CFC? | jonny flame
03/6/2010 09:08 | Congrats Mattjos! I did think there would be value here at some point given the potential, but the fundamentals made it a gamble as to how long it would take. It turned out to be a very good gamble indeed! Hope some of the proceeds get reinvested in GNG, which remains ridiculously cheap imho as a similar Chinese domestic leader in its field. | rivaldo |
