22/10/2009 16:49 | Greek Islander - valued input my friend. In regards Chinese investments have you looked at WCC? | jonny flame
21/10/2009 12:31 | Have felt a bit alone on this one as apart from a mate who bought on my suggestion when it was about 40% higher and GHF who I know from other BBs, I feel that this is well below everyone else's radar. I hav tried to recommend it to others but (understandably) perceived as very risky. Mostly because the management are a rule to themselves and don't leave you feeling able to work out the figures. "Opaqueness" is a word invesnted to describe this company. It is a play based on the prospects of the Chinese tourist industry prospects and the fast increasing numbers re Chinese travel abroad plus the fact that this company is playing the internet game as much as it can. I am sticking with it and in fact almost invested £20k last month but then decided it was a silly risk, when other investments offered a safer pathway to riches. So that money went into VLE TEF and Chinese play GNG. Notice no tick up today - typical. | greek islander

02/9/2009 17:05 | And the share price is well up today on just 2 buys! | greek islander
02/9/2009 09:57 | Daily Telegraph September 2nd The European Chamber says foreign companies are "excluded outright" from China's service sector, and uses Amadeus, a Spanish travel-booking company, as an example. More than seven years since China signed up to the WTO, it has still not granted Amadeus, a computer travel reservation system, the right to issue tickets and reservations to the growing Chinese market. | masurenguy
01/9/2009 18:33 | This has halved since the 31% Kuoni stake was announced in June and is roughly 45% below the price they paid for their stake. Interim sales up and losses down so can't really see why this seems to have induced further negative sentiment. No position - still on my Watchlist. | masurenguy
01/9/2009 16:23 | Looking like it could fall to 10p, that's how bad it is! ; ( | themoneymonster2
01/9/2009 16:21 | looks like this could fall back to 20p :-( | explorer88
28/8/2009 16:25 | You have to pay the full 0.35p ask for shares now so hopefully the recent seller is out. I have bought over the last few days and am looking for 50p short term, ie: within a month or two | themoneymonster2
28/8/2009 11:24 | Nice 50k buy at 10.22am and mm's have just published it. Someone believes. The spread needs to close for some action though in my opinion! | themoneymonster2
28/8/2009 08:47 | Yes I remain in at this lowly price but remain confused at the surge towards turnover and the apparent scant regard for profitability. One sees that the sole aim here is to increase market share. The strategy could well pay off but I would like to see more evidence of the drive towards balancing the books sooner rather than later. I was surprised at the turnover figures not being even higher as the Chinese travel market is really booming and expanding. However one puts ones money on the interaction with Kuoni and the hope that they are keeping a watching brief. I see at least three more years of losses no matter what the turnover figure goes to. Cashflow is impressive inevitably. So this remains a long term hold and if the margins improve and turnover continues to increase when parity is reached the share price could be huge compared with what it is now. Maybe six to ten times. However that remains speculative as does hanging on to this one. | greek islander
28/8/2009 08:43 | good morning monster - your post is incorrect. ETC does NOT have £14m net CURRENT assets, it has negative net current assets. It is still a loss making company. fwiw, i have a very small / nominal investment in ETC, but will not be adding. (edit: cash has increased by RMB70m y-o-y, but loans have increased by RMB100m !!!) | explorer88
28/8/2009 08:39 | also Cash at the start of the period was 185,353,000 and at the end 305,717,000. | themoneymonster2
28/8/2009 08:34 | I don't see negative net current assets as negative as current assets are 729,426,000 and total liabilities is 569,610,000 so that's a positive of 159,816,000 so that is around £14 million net current assets. That alone is over the market cap and this report is for half a year, not a full one. If there are better oppurtunities elsewhere please go and exploit them but please also stop trying to post inaccurate information to fellow posters. All the best | themoneymonster2
28/8/2009 08:28 | Agree explorer. I'm sure there was a tip sheet forecasting 8.6p EPS (from memory) this year ??? Surprised to see that they are still loss making. As you say, coupled with negative net current assets they aren't for me either. Best of luck to holders. Regards, GHF | glasshalfull
28/8/2009 08:02 | JF : (to answer your question) i'm neutral on ETC. ETC is still loss making, has negative net current assets, and is showing only 8% growth with reduction in FIT business / tours. imho, better investments available at the moment (IERE, MNR, etc....) | explorer88
28/8/2009 07:57 | Et-china losses up 56% at RMB9.1m | monet
28/8/2009 07:55 | JF : neutral. still loss making, negative net current assets, only 8% growth with reduction in FIT business / tours. imho, better investments available at the moment (IERE, MNR, etc....) | explorer88 |
