i am reminded of this from Matthew on 3/6/10:

Dear Matt,

Many thanks for the email which was great appreciated. For the last 3 years since listed on AIM, the management has tried a lot of things to communicate and educate the UK-based institutional investors but to no avail. Our share price has been lingering around 30 p for the last 12 months and more, hence the KUONI bid was a nice solution to our current UK problem. Equally the management has a lot of hope that by learning from the best in the trade, we can capture the rapidly rising affluent traveler in China. Well, it is a good results for shareholders who would like to see some return, but as you rightly pointed out, that we will be leaving AIM and UK market for good.

Again I would like to thank you for your support and encouragement and wish you all the best in your future investment in Chinese companies in UK.

Kind regards,

Matthew

parrot & sick i think for some Davy but the announcement says it all. Well doen to us and any others here before today
ETC has been grossly undervalued by AIM for so long .. the potential is huge and Kuoni clearly see that potential. ETC's figures came in pretty much where i'd forecast and show the business is on the cusp of great things, Unsuprisingly the CEO was a little guarded in his emails to me.
Kuoni must be delighted with the forced sell in December that they seized upon & put them in this position .... can't see any counter offers coming in unfortunately as Kuoni have such a large shareholding already. Looks like Job Done & i think Kuoni have picked up an absolute bargain at the price.
One more Chinese Aim stock departs the myopic & xenophobic uk investor base .. our choices get fewer and fewer every month virtually

Share price seems to have settled now.
I had wondered whether something was in the offing.
Guess it would have shown itself by now.
Have a feeling that the results statement will show that ETC remain chasing turnover rather than profitablility and this can only go on for so long - unless the activities and revenue figures are more transparent.
Don't want to keep repeating myself but I shall keep on watching this one though will not be back in unless I feel totally confident that the Board are on top of a drive to make money not just turn it over.
It's very well selling more and more and expanding but at some stage a fledgling small cap has to show a return for its shareholders and frankly in this burgeoning Chinese travel market if it cannot show a profit on this sort of increased revenue, one wonders whether it ever will.
I have tried to close my investments in fly by night companies and concentrate on those showing substantial information about fundamentals and I see none of this here. All investors (mainly PIs) are gambling on the fact that it is China and this sector holds a huge amount of promise, however the only other positive is the supposed involvement of Kuoni and the silence eminating from that direction is deafening!
Not a stock to gamble ones pension on.

It was good to see you in here as it was getting very lonely.
However after seeing a 50% loss I took the opportunity today to get out.
I am a very patient investor but all my other stocks are surging at a rate of knots and this one continues along with Tanfield to get nowhere and frankly I see no reason why matters will change.
Serious reservations about the management here and the total lack of visibility.
Glad to cash in while there was something left and I have invested the dosh in AYM and MTT today with good reward.
Good luck if you are staying in here - you may need it.

Cheers Johnyee....I hadn't the time earlier to retrace through RNS's.

£5.5m corporate bond x 7% yield per annum = £6.3m redemption figure mentioned in the accounts (extract above).

No other comment and perhaps not a worry for many investors but then again I don't know how many have spent time going through the accounts.
When parting with hard earned cash I believe it a prerequisite.

Not for me at the present time when I also throw in the illiquidity here with opaqueness of the accounts, not to mention the prohibitive spread. I'll await the next set of figures to hopefully get a better handle on both performance and finances even if it means a higher entry.

Best of luck to holders. I'll leave you in peace.

Regards,
GHF

This is taken from the £5.5 million raised last year

Under the terms of the Bonds, the Investors have a put option at the end of year
two, on a change of control or on a de-listing of the Company (the "Put Option").
If an Investor exercises its Put Option, the Company will redeem that Investor's
Bonds at their principal amount plus an amount that would equal a yield of 7%
calculated on a semi-annual basis.

I've had these on my watchlist for quite some time.....but not yet in.

Tested water on Friday to ascertain volume and price within the spread...but not much doing. Stock tightly held IMHO.
Still looking at latest result announcement and to be honest I'm struggling a bit to get my head round it all. Been an investor for over 20 years but these are a hard set of results to interpret.

Reckon I need to go back to school.

O/T - GI, would value your opinion on LIN. Noticed a great post by egoi over on TMF last month and been researching since. If you trawl back the last few posts on the thread the links are there.
