Could relate to the acquisition if it was in components,
which is their star business.

Unfortunately existing shareholders are arguably paying a price
for a dividend that should have been cut a few yesrs ago,
while they rebuilt cash flow.

That extra £50 Million raised is a result of that dividend policy imv.

I see the Placing conducted by Jefferies International Ltd and Peel Hunt LLP.

It was Jefferies who put out that positive broker note a few days ago :-)

14.6% dilution and this comment "...Acquisition meets internal ROIC benchmark by year 3..."

By year 3!. A cynic might say it was an equity raise disguised by an acquisition.

Jefferies note (from last week)...........

Essentra PLC (LON:ESNT) is doing better amidst the COVID-19 pandemic than Jefferies feared and has been upgraded by the investment bank.

Jefferies new ‘buy’ rating, up from ‘hold’, comes with a 360p price target – compared to a current price of around 291p.

Analyst Andy Douglas pointed to growth opportunities in the components and filters businesses, whilst he added that the packaging division has recovery potential.

“Having navigated its way through COVID-19 challenges well, Essentra has proven to be less cyclical than we feared, a number of risks have not emerged, and we believe the group is well-positioned for medium-term recovery and growth,” the analyst said.

“However, we believe the market neither fully appreciates nor appropriately values the medium-term growth opportunities and the EBITA margin potential.

“In some cases, we do believe many of these opportunities are well-understood. We expect sentiment to change as the recovery comes through/momentum shifts, and look for the shares to re-rate.”

Looks an interesting acquisition supplying packaging for medical / healthcare - however £50M being used to strengthen balance sheet and I can see why with the level of debt. Might be a good flip dependent on price - but as we don't know that I'll pass.

Attempting to raise £100 million, of which £50 million will go towards
strengthing the balance sheet.

As mentioned earlier this week...would not rule out an equity raise here.

Primary Bid are saying I can apply for shares at 25p each. Surely this can't be right if the share price is 284p now
Can anyone clear this up?

Hi Phil, had a very small amount before the close.

Tbh, was not that impressed by the results call, which went on forever.

Paul likes the sound of his own voice.

ESNT may be worth more to another company.

Would not rule out an equity raise here, just imv.
