Interesting rumour but, if true, they would need to be looking a minimum premium of around 15% on todays price, with an initial bid of at least 285p. For a start the current value of its content library was established at $1.5bn last October, which is equivalent to 286p a share and there are excellent prospects of growing both content and earnings strongly over the next two years.

The current price of circa 250p is roughly the equivalent of last years high of 360p after taking into account the subsequent dilution from last years rights issue. This is the threshold that ETO needs to make a very sustainable break through in order to really resume an upward growth trajectory for the shareprice.

It is also worth remembering that CPPB, the current largest shareholder, has an average share cost of circa 230p after factoring in the subsequent dilution, their take up of the discounted rights issue and some further share purchases that they made at a lower price. In my view, any predator would probably need to provide them with at least a 25% return on their investment in order to tempt them to accept any new offer. This would require a minimum bid to be in the region of 285p.

Feels a bit early for pi's taking speculative positions into an early March TU doesn't it? Nice move, whatever the reason.

eOne’s Cardinal a first for BBC4

BBC4 has acquired its first ever Canadian drama, a six-part crime series from eOne Television International.

Cardinal
Cardinal is the first Canadian drama acquired by BBC4
Cardinal, which will air later this year, follows the eponymous detective as he attempts to solve the mysterious disappearance of a young girl.

C More in Scandinavia and Calle 13 in Spain have also picked up the show, which is adapted from Giles Blunt’s award-winning novel Forty Words for Sorrow, the first of his John Cardinal Mysteries series.

The drama is written for television by Audrey Nealon and Russ Cochrane and produced by Sienna Films and eOne for Bell Media’s CTV.

Financial participants include Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp, Canada Media Fund and the Cogeco Program Development Fund.

2nd of March was last years statement so anytime around then would be in the right ballpark Mipp. Although I am not expecting much detail in the market update, it would be nice to have a pointer to how near they are to year end target.

Dont recall an eone series being picked up by the BBC before?

"eOne Sells Hit Canadian Series 'Cardinal' Across Europe"

"Entertainment One has closed multiple deals across Europe for the Canadian TV series Cardinal, with the BBC picking up the hit crime drama for the U.K. eOne also closed deals for Cardinal with C More in Scandinavia and Calle 13 in Spain."

"Cardinal was a ratings hit in its native land, becoming the most-watched debut of any Canadian series in the 2016/17 broadcast season. Its premiere was Canada’s highest rated show of in live + same day viewing and number one its time slot across all key demos."

Interesting interview with Eone UK film boss.

"eOne Exec Explains 'I, Daniel Blake' Grassroots Marketing and 'BFG's' U.K. Success (Q&A)"

"While Disney scooped most of 2016’s box office bragging rights, in the U.K. the real success story was eOne. Not only did the indie distributor’s British arm break its own record with a haul of £109.2 million ($137 million, double its closest indie rival Lionsgate), but it claimed the fourth-biggest market share ahead of Sony and Paramount in the process (and scored the most BAFTA nominations out of anyone with 20).

Proving its dexterity, much of the success was done by bucking the trend of major disappointments in the U.S. With The BFG, it took a rare Spielberg flop on one side of the Atlantic ($55 million) and turned it into the director’s third-biggest film of all time on the other ($40 million), and it later achieved a similar feat with The Girl on the Train ($75 million in the U.S, $29 million in the U.K.)."

Wife went to see the movie last week with 4 girlfriends, they all absolutely loved it.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Oscar movies generally not that important commercially but suspect La La Land will do well, think Animal Crackers might be their best release of 2017 !

That's something I was unaware of - shame we hadn't rights worldwide. Even so those 3 countries could bring in much needed revenue. Shame it's such an overrated film!
