Hmmmm...significant move up this morning (5%) on just an average daily volume!

Might ITV think about another go at ETO as a defensive move against someone taking a run at ITV?

"eOne is emerging as one of 2016’s leading UK performers. The total box office for its releases is running 104% up on the same time last year, with £97m ($120.8m) to date, also boosted by The Girl On The Train.

Hamilton hopes to beat eOne UK’s annual record of £106m ($132m), which was achieved in 2013 when the Momentum slate was absorbed and the combined company released more than 40 films.

“Among independent distributors, only Entertainment has passed £100m ever, apart from ourselves,” he says. “They passed it in 2002 and 2003 at the height of The Lord Of The Rings and their New Line run. We’ll do it again this year, and we’ve done it without a pre-existing franchise.”"

What utter nonsense !
The RNS clearly states - Nature of transaction: Acquisition of common shares in Entertainment One Ltd in personal SIPP for the benefit of Mark Opzoomer. Price: 219.5 pence. Number of shares: 20,000

Hmmm, I think the RNS meant to say he'd shorted it for 20,000 by the looks of things :-)

A 20,000 share purchase by Mr Opzoomer - lets hope that the shareprice takes a cue from his moniker :-)

I like this mornings notification of the director purchase. He would not pick now to buy 20000 for his SIPP unless he felt the current share price was too low.

eOne lays out Canvas investment

Transatlantic producer-distributor Entertainment One (eOne) has invested in digital outfit Canvas Media Studios.

The ‘strategic investment,’ financial details of which were not disclosed, will see Canvas expand its distribution, production and financing of premium scripted content for digital, TV and OTT services.

The prodco will also work with eOne Television on a first-look basis for production and distribution to bring its content to worldwide audiences across all media.

Canvas was founded by Emmy- winning creator Bernie Su and media executive David Tochterman, who was a digital strategy consultant for PBS, ABC and Starz. Prior to that he worked for Innovative Artists and Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment.

John Morayniss, CEO of eOne Television, said: “As we think about the future of storytelling, we are pleased to be in business with innovators that bring new models to the table and complement our business.

“Together, we are well-positioned to find opportunities in rapidly developing media and platforms.”

Tochterman added: “In addition to providing resources to fulfil our vision for developing and producing multi-platform premium scripted content, eOne’s strategic investment in Canvas Media Studios will enable us to pursue a range of distribution and co-financing opportunities, including identifying third-party content.”

Canvas’s slate includes drama Socio, a follow-up to its Stylehaul series Vanity, which will be produced for MTV, as well as experimental 360° scripted comedy series The Mobile Oval.

EOne joins Allen DeBevoise’s Third Wave Digital and MNM Creative as investors in Canvas Media.

The guardian have a story about the peppa pig film due out next year.

Also nice to see The BFG at number one in the dvd charts whilst still pulling $40k a week at the cinema.

I think you'll find it more likely that ITV will be on the receiving end of a takeover bid themselves, within the next few months.

Happy holding here. Expecting to be in the 260-280 range within the next 9 months.

The reason I took my loss and sold at 229 on results day was the fact that ETO management had clearly stated that they were trading "in line" but it is very clear that the results were nowhere near what the investment community was expecting so I no longer have any faith in the management.
If it drops back into the 180s I might revisit but I really do feel that the current management is not capable of properly exploiting the business assets, particularly the supposed $1.5BN library.
Who knows a bid of 250 from ITV in a few months might be enough to win over the Canadian pension fund.

I doubt it will drop to £2.00 BOD seem happy and confident with the situation and the share always favours the 2nd half of the year so after the recent shakedown of some holders there seems little reason to sell out now. Perhaps we will get a little Santa rally as a bonus.

U are so right tini5. Worth looking at the investment profile in the last Edison note which shows this content library valuation is only going vertical from here over next three years. Now they themselves might not get the required return from it, but sooner or later it will attract attention of someone who can properly leverage it ...

Look at the chart over the last 9 months. Ups and downs through 2016 but overall an share price movement that reflects growth. In 12 months time, that drop on the chart will just look like the rest, a temporary pull back on the inexorable way upwards.
