I can't remember if it was Cineworld or Vue in which I saw the First Cinema Experience advert, but my understanding is that its going to be a series of children's programmes rather than just a Peppa/eOne thing.

I do think the only problem with the takeover call here though is the fact that by and large most of its peers or interested parties see it as more a distribution business than a production business, and they have to work hard at changing this perception as well as delivering some cashflow.

concur with your too fruit ... although I am unashamedly a fan of the company.

Re trading patterns, for some reason a level of volatility has crept into the shares which was largely absent before, so I guess there are some idiot shareholders changing their minds every two minutes. But its impossible to see how anyone could profit from their strategy. For me though I am finding it exceedingly easy to profit from it, albeit I am keeping a large core holding in the shares.

I imagine we will be around at least 250p a share into the results due on 22 November, as greed likely to prevail over fear in this name

The way I see it is that the market has decided on a purely arbitrary basis to hold the share price around the level of the ITV bid.
I am on the edge of looking to add more here for the main reasons listed by Raffles.
Either the share price crawls back toward the 300 line or they get taken out around that level.

Concur with RTGT , I'm looking for 250p here and have been buying the 'dips' I'm not a huge fan of the company but feel it will be rerated higher in time and eventually taken out. Just looking at the wonky price action of the last few weeks my take on it is this : Robots and trading algorithms!! No rational institution or humanoid traders would sell off buy up like this has seen. A good day trader would exploit those nasty multimillion £ programs and buy around 225-230p and sell those shares right back to em at 235 imo. Hence why no one has yet built an automated trading program that can beat the market overtime imo. Smart traders can easily take advantage ... All imo wtfdik ;)

Interesting 1gw ... I am actually going the other way and buying more here. Just one of few companies offering growth, dollar sensitivity as well as limited economic sensitivity and a valuation underpinned by a content library worth more than the company

Well I've taken some profit out of ETO here (about 1/5 of my holding) at 232p to raise funds to buy something that is looking a bit more beaten down.

It feels to me like there are a lot of things going "cheap" but not too much that feels overvalued (at least as I see my portfolio) so I have to sell some of the good stuff to raise funds.

Another good week at the box office in the UK and girl on the train now on an impressive $8.5m in Australia.

"EONE

The Girl On The Train might have been denied a hat-trick at the top of the chart, but it still enjoyed a strong $2.44m (£2m) third weekend.

eOne’s adaptation has now journeyed to $21.7m (£17.72m) and should hit the £20m mark by the end of this coming weekend if it holds as well. Gone Girl’s $27.4m (£22.4m) result is well within its reach.

Also for eOne, I, Daniel Blake recorded the best-ever opening of Ken Loach’s career to date.

The critically acclaimed drama scored an impressive $542,000 (£443,197) debut from its 94 sites, including $48,000 (£39,194) in previews, marking a site average of $5,769 (£4,715) and surpassing The Wind That Shakes The Barley’s $478,000 (£390,720) bow from 105 sites as Loach’s biggest.

Whether it can follow that film’s lengthy run to $4.78m (£3.91m) - currently Loach’s best-ever UK result - remains to be seen, but the film has the word-of-mouth to sustain strongly and eOne will next week expand the film’s screen count to more than 150.

The BFG has now amassed $37m (£30.23m)."

Warner deal puts takeovers back in frame

The future of video is mobile and the future of mobile is video, apparently. It may be a Yoda-like statement but it is the driving force behind the $85 billion tie-up between AT&T and Time Warner, according to the two groups. The US companies believe that people will be watching increasing amounts of video on smartphones, so bringing together the production of films, news and entertainment with technology that can deliver the content well is a compelling strategy. Lorna Tilbian, head of media at Numis Securities, said: “This has fired the starting gun on the next round of consolidation between content and distribution. The old adage is that content is king. And content with distribution is King Kong.”

In the UK, one potential prize is ITV. Having seen its shares slump during the financial crisis, ITV has reinvigorated itself by investing in ITV Studios, which has doubled in size over the past five years. That has breathed life into revenues, reduced its reliance on advertising and made it a prime target. Entertainment One, the London-listed owner of children’s cartoon Peppa Pig, is also a target, as one of the few remaining independent production companies of any size. Indeed, Entertainment One and ITV have considered, but walked away from, a merger.

AT&T to buy Time Warner for more than $80 billion - It's all about content.

'The potential merger highlights one of the most definitive trends of the modern media business: the push from tech and telecommunications giants to control the lucrative, popular content they once passively supplied.'

Not directly related to eOne, but interesting to see Discovery Family Channel in the US has just ordered a new series of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic from Hasbro. I mention this because both Mattel and Hasbro have their own internal production arms, which I am sure would be a willing buyer of Peppa, Ben & Holly, PJ Masks etc given the opportunity. Yet they are never mentioned as potential bidders or part bidders for eOne, despite being the two of the biggest players in the sector.

Exactly jamesjjj.

Ben & holly are being launched in Canada this month - with merchandising to follow:

"The series will make its debut on October 28th on Canadian network, Treehouse.

Entertainment One’s (eOne) pre-school series Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom is set to make its debut on Canadian network, Treehouse.

Launching on October 28th at 8am, Treehouse has acquired seasons one and two of the series.

“As Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom continues to gain a foothold in international territories, the confirmation of a broadcast partner in Canada further underpins its universal appeal,” said Monica Candiani, head of international sales at Entertainment One Family.

“Treehouse gives us the perfect platform to launch the series to Canadian families and we look forward to working with them to make the show a big success there.”

eOne is now preparing to roll out its consumer products programme for the brand in Canada, with merchandise already launching in Greece, Russia and Latin America."

Re reading it again 1gw you might well be right - but odd to send it to print two months after ITV broke off - but anyway it would have been a game changer for them, but then reading the article it sounds like they have much confidence to grow through organic means

Raffles - the text of the article suggests that it was produced before ITV walked away from EOne though doesn't it? Or do you read it as a new bout of "pushing"?

"As TBI goes to press the broadcaster is pushing for a takeover of Entertainment One,..."

Girl on the Train is still number one in the UK (impressively holding off Dan Brown's Inferno) - now up to an "excellent" $16.6m already. And The BFG and Supersonic continue to do well:

Multiple new TV deals for yet another ETO character (this for a slightly older age group than Peppa and Ben & Holly)):

"eOne Inks Multiple TV Deals for ‘Winston Steinburger’
Mercedes Milligan Oct 11th, 2016

Entertainment One (eOne) has secured sales for its new 2D animated comedy series Winston Steinburger and Sir Dudley Ding Dong (52 x 11) in multiple territories, assuring the show will hit TV screens in the UK, Poland, the Middle East and North Africa beginning this fall.

The show will this year begin airing on POP in the UK in October and on Teletoon in Poland in December, with MBC Group debuting the show in MENA in September 2017. eOne is in advanced discussions with broadcasters in additional territories, including France, with details coming soon.

Already on board for Winston Steinburger are co-production partners ABC3 (Australia) and Teletoon (Canada), plus Clan TVE (Spain) and BIGGS (Portugal). The series recently launched in Australia and will roll out in additional territories through autumn.

Winston Steinburger and Sir Dudley Ding Dong, aimed at kids 6-12, follows the hilarious hijinks of thrill-seeking space kid named Winston Steinburger, his feline best friend, Sir Dudley, and an uptight alien, Hampton. Exploring the galaxy in a homemade space cruiser, the three astronomical amigos square off against bubbling planets, bad-breathed space-bandits, and their worst nemesis: Pam the Destroyer, a manic tween with an itchy trigger finger and a mega crush on Winston.

eOne developed the series in collaboration with award-winning animation studio Sticky Pictures."

I have had a look at what can be gleaned from the buys or sells and there does appear to be a huge sale at 16.35 of over 500k. On closer inspection it is an uncrossed trade and as I understand it is a way of deciding the mid price for orders left on the books and to effect it the participants have 5 minutes to enter what price they will pay for or be prepared to sell their stock for at this point, no-one is trading here.
