asparks,

Thanks for reply.

Been looking at ENV 3rd quarter results dated 29th Dec 2006.

Don't look that healthy with falling turnover, rising costs etc.,May be worth a short term punt on the back of the TAN publicity but spread is still horrible.

Good timing for you guys but I'll probably stick with TAN. Have been holding since 18p and so sitting on healthy profit. No intention to exit at less that £1.50.

Regards

Mike

asp - dunno. I didn't follow this company at all until last month when Tanfield called them in as substitutes for Azure Dynamics who chose to cuddle up to Ford instead and devote attention to what Ford wanted. I'm not sure to what extent this new Tanfield-Enova engagement was forced, but it looks to have done Enova no harm.

mike - re your comment on the TAN thread. I too was a little surprised by the scale of the rise here today. But ve welcome nonetheless. I'm not 100% sure but I think the recent downturn here has been due to a lack of many new contracts being announced. MT Glass - is that right?

ENV obviously need other contracts in addition to the TAN one - but the TAN deal is certainly a potential biggy

Enova to Supply Systems to The Tanfield Group Plc, for Zero Emission Vehicles in Europe and North America
TORRANCE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Enova Systems (AMEX:ENA) (AIM:ENV) (AIM:ENVS), the leading developer of proprietary electric, hybrid and fuel cell digital power management systems and an early stage production company in an emerging industry, is pleased to announce that it has entered into a significant production supply agreement with Smith Electric Vehicles, a division of The Tanfield Group Plc (TAN).

Enova has worked in partnership over several months with Tanfield to develop two high performance electric drive train systems for Smith Electric Vehicles zero emissions vans and trucks, respectively. Enova anticipates executing an exclusive agreement to supply a minimum of 200 electric drive trains to Tanfield during 2007. Tanfield will integrate a 120kw electric drive system into the Smith Newton, the world's first zero emission 7.5t truck. A 90kw electric drive system will be installed in the Smith Edison, the world's first all-electric 3.5t van. Enova will also supply electric drive trains for a 12 ton version of the Smith Newton, specifically designed for the North American market.

Mike Staran, Enova's Executive Vice President, said: "This production agreement with Tanfield consolidates our position as a market leader in Europe. More importantly, the development of a Smith Newton for North America offers an enormous opportunity for further volume sales, through the supply of drive trains for Smith vehicles in the USA and Canada. Tanfield is rapidly establishing its position as the world's leading commercial electric vehicle manufacturer. Enova is convinced that there is significant untapped demand for battery-powered vehicles worldwide, and that Tanfield's vehicles can exploit this opportunity."

Mr. Staran added: "The volume potential and market size, with a customer such as Tanfield, is significant in both the short and long term. We are delighted that Tanfield has selected us as their partner and we look forward to further optimizing our relationship with them."

Darren Kell, Chief Executive of The Tanfield Group Plc, said: "The Enova system offers us a best-of-breed solution for our class-leading electric vehicles. We will work closely with Enova on the development of future products in the Smith Electric Vehicles portfolio, for both Europe and North America."

In December 2006, Smith Electric Vehicles unveiled Newton, the world's first high performance 7.5 ton zero emission electric vehicle. The Smith Newton is the first ever vehicle in its class that can compete with the diesel equivalent in an urban environment – but without the polluting effects of nitrogen oxide, particulate matter and CO2 emissions.

A typical Smith Electric vehicle can achieve ranges of over 100 miles between battery charges at speeds of 50 mph. Because they are zero emission, Smith Electric Vehicles are exempt from urban congestion charges in European cities such as London, and also qualify for other UK tax breaks and costly license exemptions. The 3.5 and 7.5 ton vehicles are primarily designed as delivery vehicles for urban areas. The vehicles are extremely quiet and make a proven positive contribution to air quality in city centres.

Smith has already supplied the first Newton vehicles to leading business-to-business express, operator TNT Express UK and contract logistics operator Ceva Logistics. TNT alone has indicated that it could require up to 200 Newton vehicles for the UK over the next 2 years.

About Smith Electric Vehicles

Smith Electric Vehicles, based in Tyne & Wear, United Kingdom, is both the world's most established electric vehicle manufacturer and the world's largest producer of road-going commercial electric vehicles.

Established in 1920, it has been a market leader for more than seven decades. Smith vehicles are used for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications including urban delivery, healthcare, airport and municipal services. It has a worldwide customer base of more than 500 clients, including major supermarkets and global logistics companies.

Smith is a trading division of The Tanfield Group Plc.

This news item, though dated 3 weeks ago, is resurfacing in various journals and news alerts today. Very little we don't already know, but it expands slightly on the company description given in the thread header:

TORRANCE, Calif.-(Business Wire)-December 13, 2006 - Enova Systems, (AMEX:ENA) (AIM:ENV) (AIM:ENVS), an early stage production company in an emerging industry and a leading developer of proprietary electric, hybrid and fuel cell digital power management systems, is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Tokyo R&D to supply an electric bus to the Hokuriku Electric Power Company in Japan. The bus will now undergo testing and evaluation by the company in efforts to generate further volumes for this type of vehicle.

Enova supplied Tokyo R&D with a 120kW Electric Drive System earlier this year for integration into the bus. Enova's electric drive system provides all the functionality one would find under the hood of an internal combustion engine powered vehicle. The electric system consists of an enhanced induction motor and the electronic controls that regulate the flow of electricity to and from the batteries at various voltages and power to propel the vehicle.

The 120kW system is an ideal choice for light trucks, delivery vans, and mid-sized buses using electric and series hybrid-electric propulsion. This system can provide 1664NM of drive shaft torque when used with our gear reduction unit and operates on a DC input voltage that can range from 250 to 425VDC.

Mike Staran, Enova's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, said, "Enova is confident that our relationship with Tokyo R&D will further strengthen our position in Japan. A strategic partnership in this area could certainly result in an increased share of the market for this region."
