I think once it has gone ex divi, then you wont be entitled to the divi, if you subsequently buy in now, even before the 'record date'.

DECLARATION OF DIVIDEND London, UK - 20 February 2008: The directors of Emap plc (EMA.L) today announce
that, following the completion of the acquisition by H Bauer Verlag of Emap
Consumer Media and Emap Radio and Emap plc's receipt of the proceeds of the
disposals, Emap plc will pay a special dividend of 461 pence per share on 19
March 2008 to those shareholders on the register on 7 March 2008. The
ex-dividend date will be 5 March 2008.

ie the dividend equates to the drop in price. (worried me a little first thing this am)

Someone is hopeful out there - after all this time, with a 19.7% holding and an agreed bid - the likelyhood of someone coming in with a higher offer is remote - yet someone is hopeful.

It seems like the board have acted in their own continued interest, and the shareholder is left again with the least option.

The recent steep rise is offputting but good news lately suggests there is more to come.
