Good to see the share price push through 240p. Is ECM on somebodies wish list? ECM would make an instant bolt on for one of those behemoth net-traders like Amazon.

Industrials taking a bashing, XPP, Cookson, Morgan Crucible have issued profits warnings this week. Previously RNO, VLX ECM. Profits warnings tend to come in 3s.

I've always liked the clarity of ecm reports, the business is doing all the right things and putting in place a growth strategy that will enhance earnings in the future all things being equal. Still going to make a decent profit over the year, still going to pay a nice divi. They could well go a bit cheaper from here, but I will continue to hold for the income.

Stop loss @ 195p so a smallish loss which I thought might be a whole lot worse. Profit warnings usually come in threes so 2 more to come IMHO. VLX and now ECM are struggling with current challenges. As tom says the industrial sector is one to avoid atm. On the positive side HYC had a good IMS this am. Tom doing better this year than last, I did well on PIC now sold and CAZA (oil speculation) should do well as the horizontal drilling on the bone spring formation come in. I'll take a look at the two stocks you mention. GLA.

Morning sleveen, hope you are doing well this year just popped in to look at the trading statement.Maybe a good idea to keep clear of industrials for the time being i would expect further statements like this in the coming months.Recently bought ICP and HGG which have a great divi's and appears to have good prospects imho GL

Well we got the kiss of the IC this morning, though it was more like damned with faint praise, and the share price action to go with it.

eithin, I see ECM as one of the few reliable businesses that you can hold and sleep easy at night, unless of course you bought above 250p, then you might be in for a bit of a wait. Buy now and you will get some of that divi too! Certainly tempting down at these levels, but these are nervous times.

ELECTROCOMPONENTS WINS THE QUEEN'S AWARD FOR ENTERPRISE

OXFORD, England, April 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

Award presented for continuous achievement in international trade

Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the world's leading high service distributor of electronics and maintenance products, has won the Queen's Award for Enterprise, one of Britain's most coveted business awards. The award was conferred today (The Queen's birthday) for the company's continuous achievement in international trade, which has resulted in substantial overseas earnings, growth and commercial success.

The Queen's Awards celebrate the very best of British enterprise. They are presented on the recommendation of the Prime Minister and with Her Majesty The Queen's approval to the most successful industrial and commercial companies and to those enterprises which have made a significant contribution to Britain's national prosperity.

Electrocomponents has continuously invested in international expansion, new product introductions, improving its global supply chain capability and eCommerce effectiveness. This has enabled it to take market share from its competitors, who cannot match its product offering and customer service, and has made it the global market leader. Since 2006 Electrocomponents has successfully expanded into 10 new overseas markets, most notably within Eastern Europe and South East Asia.

Electronica, I begin to wonder if ECM might become a target for a USA distributor looking to rapidly expand. ECM has recently brought in a new super-dooper computer system, and seem to be doing all the right things to get through this difficult time. I do get the feeling that it is being shorted on the basis of political noise in Euroland, but I doubt the noise will have much effect on normal business. The Germans are in charge of Euroland, and europe will have to put up with what the Germans want. Yes I'm mulling adding some more, that divi is tempting and I hold these as an income provider and not for trading.

Not that surprising really given the ammount of business (and especially profits) that ECM does in Euroland.

These fears are overdone in my view. Time to buy perhaps?

Fascinating to see ECM given such a pasting over the past couple of trading days, and on what appears to be thin volume too.
