I wouldnt be so sure since one source quotes and explosion which looks pausible in light of this: However, between March 2017 and April 2018, under a Technical Services Agreement (TSA) between Salvic Petroleum and Heritage Energy, the former rehabilitated the Trans-Forcados Pipeline and sustained an uptime of over 86 per cent in the 12 months of operations. THISDAY gathered that until the contract between both firms was abruptly terminated by Heritage last month, Salvic Petroleum had handled the technical support services, security, operation & management (O&M) services, community relations & other stakeholder management, corporate social responsibility activities, and the management of the 87km Trans-Forcados Pipeline. and this: hxxps://www.premiumtimesng.com/oilgas-reports/266525-oml30-communities-protest-removal-of-salvic-petroleum-resources.html

Hm, I now see that I didn't read that tax quote very well myself.. It says "following the full utilisation of tax losses...etc", so the report and presentation are not inconsistent. So then it becomes a matter of getting the tax losses recognised. Still, happy to hear more discussion on the tax regime, since it can impact the result substantially.

Another question. It's clear that Eland really only has a 20.25% stake in OML40 (from the Finance presentation, slide 6), although it is equally clear that 100% of cash flow goes to Eland until the original loan to Elcrest is repaid (same slide). In the presentation that number stood at a chunky $380mm, so there is decent room to keep receiving 100% of Elcrest's cash flow. So it seems that Eland should have the full 45% stake at least for another two years or so at projected cash flow rates. Nevertheless, at the projected 50.000 barrels/day for the whole license it can go quick and then it seems that Eland's stake will reduce to only 20.25% post-loan. Is this analysis roughly right? Trying to better understand the investment case here.

Posted this also on LSE - hoping the more experienced LTHs can shed some light on ELA's exact tax prospects. I realise that there are ongoing changes in Nigeria's tax system, but I'm wondering what will happen if the situation stays as it is currently. Elcrest has the Pioneer tax relief until April 2019 and so it seems currently tax exempt. After that however, I see in the annual report for 2016 that "On expiry of Pioneer tax status, and following the full utilisation of available tax losses (which have no time restriction) and $188,200,000 of capital allowances, Elcrest is expected to be paying tax at 65.75% for five years and at 85% thereafter" (p. 63). On the other hand, the Finance presentation from June 2017 gives a management expectation of "effective tax rate" (utilization of tax losses) of 10-15% for 2 years and 43-45% for the following 3 years. The second seems materially more benign, although 45% is still a lot. What are the actual prospects? Are there some broker notes floating around that give insight into the tax system? How will the proposed tax bill impact this? Any insight appreciated.

BOD communication excellent to underpin and explain. A very temporary stall in the path to an amazing 30k barrels of oil per day from Opuama Currently exceeding 23k per day @ $67 / barrel Excellent work

there's a bit of restiveness in delta region regarding sacking of regional minister. 4wk ultimatum given to reinstate him... or else He was apparently corrupt but worked to the advantage of the old Delta agitators Let's see how the next appointment works out
