11/2/2009 20:35 | You could well be right Darren. It just struck me as odd that if they were so cash strapped why delay a key title, when they could release it 90% finished. Not desirable of course, but a better alternative than going broke. On the positive side, TRU on PS2 is No 1 for the third week running and there are the 2 x 360 downloads to come over the next month. The trailers for BS look very impressive, as so with Batman. Even CM is starting to sound promising. Who knows, maybe Shellshock will outperform expectations. It sounds gory enough to appeal to the American market, although the lack of previews and promotion by Eidos doesn't bode well. I still see the glass as half full, but we should have more of an idea when the interims are published. I don't think they are finished yet. | life of crime
11/2/2009 19:30 | kooba, didn't mean to be patronising .... okay, let's leave it ;) But fwiw, I don't think it's broken the downtrend yet. loc, well there's other ways of looking at the delay: 1. It wasn't ready. 2. They don't have the cash to publish it (publishing a title always causes a short term cash outflow even if you just chuck it on the shelves). They've got a few other releases (Battlestations, champ manager) so they might not have the cash to release another title in the same period. | darrens
11/2/2009 19:12 | It is interesting that JC2 has been pushed back into the next FY. Perhaps the board are more confident on the financial front than we know. If they were desperate for cash, they would have no choice but to release the game by June even if it was only 90% complete (Eidos did the same with TR AoD, except that was only 50% right!). What seems like bad news on the surface, could be telling us something more positive. Either that, or they are intent on selling the firm. | life of crime
11/2/2009 18:27 | thanks. having read the technical analysis of stock trends by edwards and mcgee a few decades ago i think i'm ok on a wikipedia explanation.i still believe ta is purely a reactive tool triggered by other factors in the underlying market.so lets leave it hey! wish i hadn't asked!!!! | kooba
11/2/2009 18:20 | There's nothing in the schedule to attract any of the big established publishers. Clutching at straws a bit but I guess if you had somebody who was looking to enter the market (and had a lot of cash behind them) then it does make an easier entry point than buying EA! However, by easier, I mean it wouldn't cost too much but they'd have to have enough cash to survive for a few years on negative cashflow. I guess that answers the other question too. Unless something is a massive surprise hit (like Battlestations selling 2m+) then the die is cast. I remain of the view that they will be sold because the Board knows there's no other choice. You may find interesting. | darrens
11/2/2009 17:49 | fundamentals, information ,newsflow & speculation all effect shareprices... ta is only a means of interpreting those movements based on historical performance. yes do you think schedule makes the company attractive to bidder? and also can it prevent them going bust? | kooba
11/2/2009 17:41 | well, not sure I agree - TA is just about the charts and doesn't pay any attention to fundamentals, newsflow or anything. So, perhaps you don't mean TA but simply mean the "price action"? Not sure I understand the questions - do you mean in terms of how attractive it would be to a bidder or whether it's good enough to prevent them going bust? | darrens
11/2/2009 17:09 | totally agree but the price action demonstrated in the ta will undoubtedly be governed by the markets risk /reward view of a deal progressing...so since eid/seg/eid has been one of the leakiest ships in the market [not just with cash!!!] for info then worth looking at the action for signals of knowledgable investors! whats your current view of how the release line up is shaping up darrens?? | kooba
11/2/2009 16:40 | kooba, well TA has its place but I would have thought that the bid talks/rumours will dominate the price until they are done one way or another? | darrens
11/2/2009 16:25 | thanks darren it looks interesting to me it is building into an uptrend at least! even if still in the longterm downtrend!!!! wish someone would put us out of our misery..perhaps tw will wait till they are free to bid a lower price than 35p the company does seem to have a more interesting spread and timing of games launches than i realised. | kooba
11/2/2009 13:46 | lol - may the board be sacked!lucky i got out of these!!! | the crypt
10/2/2009 18:42 | kooba, I've never been a huge fan of TA but fwiw I don't think the downtrend is broken yet although the price is approaching the resistance line. Toggle, the ten point plan was the best (and arguably only) chance of saving the company and giving shareholders a chance of a decent return. The Eidos Board seem to acknowledge that by (belatedly) actioning those points that they still can action. Probably too late though to save the company although maybe they can make it more attractive to a bidder. | darrens
10/2/2009 17:14 | Just Cause 2 coming in Q3 2009 News another point. i know we are in bid talks but does anyone who follows technical analysis think the downtrend is broken? | kooba
10/2/2009 15:01 | david bennett once again is made to look silly!!!!lol lol bring out the branston | the crypt
09/2/2009 16:40 | So, that's point 1 from my (Feb 2008) ten point plan for them to save the business. Only a year late. | darrens
09/2/2009 15:59 | I just found this: | davidbennett
09/2/2009 15:03 | hey guys it looks like that fool dealy has moved on! hoorar, hoorar!! may them lols be mighty and may sanity return to this board after such a long absense. | the crypt
07/2/2009 17:58 | The Telegraph piece on CM sounds very promising and the screenshots look well designed. It seems that the new manager at BGS is delivering on his promise to re-build the game from the ground up. If they can turn CM back into something approaching its old glory days, it will become a valuable franchise again rather than the second string title it is today. Launching it at the end of the footie season rather than the start is almost as good timing as TRU, but better than releasing it early and botched. But for the cssh flow problem, I would give it 6 months of extra development and launch it in Oct, but they can't afford that luxury. Still, this is the sort of game that, if executed well, will have gamers playing it right through the off-season and there will be numerous updates during the summer transfer window. The next game in the series should be released in late summer/early Autumn 2010 to get the release schedule back in sequence with the start of the season. | life of crime
07/2/2009 10:07 | Just Cause 2. This appears and disappears from retailers release schedules. Does anyone have any further information ???. Below is some detail from Wikipedia... Just Cause 2 is a sandbox style action video game currently under development by Swedish developer Avalanche Studios and published by Eidos Interactive currently set for a release in 2009. It is the sequel to the 2006 video game Just Cause, which had a mixed reception. Just Cause 2 uses a new version of the Avalanche Engine, Avalanche Engine 2.0; an updated version of the engine used in Just Cause. The game will be set on the other side of the world, compared to Just Cause, on the fictional tropical island of Panau in South-East Asia. Rico Rodriguez will return as the protagonist that has to overthrow the evil dictator Baby Panay and confront his former boss, Tom Sheldon. Preview 29 Jan09:- | togglebrush
