Sadly they just keep getting screwed by circumstances largely outside their control. A bit of consolidation in this sector can't be far way ..

Can you believe that at today's price of oil these SMALL projects are worth doing? Look at the COSTS before one barrel of oil is pumped out..................and I quote: The forward plan for the Wressle development comprises the following key stages 1. Discharging the planning conditions, finalising detailed designs, tendering and procurement of materials, equipment and services and finalising all HSE documentation and procedures 2. Installation of the ground water monitoring boreholes and establishment of baseline conditions through monitoring 3. Reconfiguration of the site 4. Installation and commissioning of surface facilities 5. Sub-surface operations 6. Commencement of production Progress to date has concentrated on the enabling works highlighted in point 1 above. The initial work on site will be the installation of the groundwater monitoring boreholes with the main site operations occurring in the last months of the work stream. On current plans, the Company envisages first oil during H2 2020. Now what is the price of oil going to be in second half of 2020? Let us say $30pb LESS $20 in the ground and that includes all the costs EDR have told us about and then we ask ourselves is that good business...........Hells Bells NO. KEEP THE STUFF in the GROUND - save the cash and stop paying yourself cash and if you can pay back the shareholders who will soon loose everything.

Shell are on a go slow so far as exploration is concerned and their reasons for picking up the deal from EDR have not been fully explained - that is my conclusion based on what Shell have done and paid for in that area of the North Sea. Even if it were full steam ahead you would need to allow for up to ONE Year for all the information to be pulled together and assessed and then another period of time for the big decision............... Sorry JASPER but its best the truth comes out as everyone is running for cover. Look back at all my posts...........you will see I have bought and sold but my assessment on the management has been so right. The assets are now poor and the only value is the cost of a quote so perhaps my 4p should now be 1p per share. I think OHISAY above is saying what I have just pointed out..........

I thought they had one in Shell. Ever since that announcement the share price went on a downward spiral. So much for solid partners even they are being hit.

and so the dilution will go on ...............that means poor investors but management gets paid. The party is nearly over for most of the AIM oil/gas sector - only those with NO debt and solid partners..........

Egdon IMV was never a bad company .I never had the sense they were overpromising. Shale looked really good for them but it was always risky ,Wressle was just unlucky for them with the local objections. Now it looks bombed out with not much cash and likely more required for the gas survey. It seems to me a minnow out of its time.

Curry...They've been promising for years..but have never delivered.I'm finding it hard to find something they've actually said they would do and did it.I suppose they decided to bet the farm on shale gas (was never going to work/be allowed in the UK) that bet failed. It's a company that plods on delivering 100-150 bbls a day and spends it all and more on the same old stuff. How much have they raised over the years, (lots), how much have they spent in salaries and fees?,(lots) how much is the company worth, a lot less than this...at some point someone has to say "thats enough" sell what you have and give it back to shareholders....it's now just a lifestyle company for management and their ineffective Board members.

from Egdon website.. Current Planning Status 17 January 2020 -Egdon Resources plc (AIM:EDR) is pleased to report that the Planning Inspectorate has today upheld our appeal and granted planning consent for the development of the Wressle Oil Field in North Lincolnshire licences PEDL180 and PEDL182. The Inspector also allowed the application for an award of costs against North Lincolnshire Council.Mark Abbott Managing Director of Egdon Resources plc, said:“I am delighted that the Planning Inspectorate has made this positive determination in relation to this important asset for Egdon and our JV partners. We will now begin work on discharging the planning conditions and the detailed planning for the development works. We will continue to keep shareholders and the local community informed.” There is plenty on their website on the history of Wressle and the planning process. IMO what is needed now from the operator is the plan going forward, what are the stages, what is the program, and expectations.

Edison assume EDR wont do a placing unless they decide to drill following the seismic on Resolution . I beg to differ:I expect a fund raise at close to the current price in the next few months. While the Edison note is useful its a perfect example of the limitations of paid for research...

Its difficult to believe the valuation some city scribblers put on o&e companies. My view is to take what they say and then discount that by 60% to be safe. So in this case the price of around 4/5p is about right. In one of my last posts I mentioned that Shell take their time over how they look at 3D tech.............allow 6 months before another comprehensive set of news. If you don't believe me then ring EDR and ask them!!!
