07/8/2019 15:47 | Hello Northwick, Yes, I was implying that Mevalone use will be higher this year, in France at least. I could be wrong, but I believe grape growers using Mevalone tend to have an early application at the time of flowering, then not much use mid-summer, then maybe two or three applications up to harvest time if the weather is damp/humid. The earliest harvesting in France is around late August, through to October, so I would expect it to be applied throughout August in many areas of France. Maybe we'll get an update with the results late September 2019. Didn't someone have a link to a website that told growers when to apply Mevalone? It would be interesting to see what that recommends. | weyweyumfozo
07/8/2019 15:34 | Hi WeyweyYour post seems to imply that sales of Mevalone should be higher this year? If it is, why is the market still unappreciative and why isn't Eden not shouting of this from the top of the roof? What am I missing? | northwick
07/8/2019 13:20 | With a view to french mevalone sales, that is a good point. Last year was hot and dry, and they didn't need botryticides in France, Portugal etc. My local English vineyard said last year was the only year it hadn't needed any, mevalone is not licensed in UK of course (small wine growing market, but lots of apples grown and strawberries...) | paulpaolo

07/8/2019 10:28 | I think that regarding the weather in France, apart from the earlier heatwave, it has been a bit damper recently, with more rain to come - unlike last summer which was exceptionally sunny. | weyweyumfozo
06/8/2019 14:11 | Insect 'apocalypse' in U.S. driven by 50x increase in toxic pesticides Bees, butterflies, and other insects are under attack by the very plants they feed on as U.S. agriculture continues to use chemicals known to kill. | supersonico
05/8/2019 13:50 | Pesticides deliver a one-two punch to honey bees by Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry Adjuvants are chemicals that are commonly added to plant protection products, such as pesticides, to help them spread, adhere to targets, disperse appropriately, or prevent drift, among other things. There was a widespread assumption that these additives would not cause a biological reaction after exposure, but a number of recent studies show that adjuvants can be toxic to ecosystems, and specific to this study, honey bees. Jinzhen Zhang and colleagues studied the effects on honey bees when adjuvants were co-applied at "normal concentration levels" with neonicotinoids. Their research, recently published in Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, found that the mixture of the pesticide and the adjuvant increased the mortality rate of honey bees in the lab and in semi-field conditions, where it also reduced colony size and brooding. When applied alone, the three pesticide adjuvants caused no significant, immediate toxicity to honeybees. However, when the pesticide acetamiprid was mixed with adjuvants and applied to honeybees in the laboratory, the toxicity was quite significant and immediate. In groups treated with combined pesticide-adjuvant concentrates, mortality was significantly higher than the control groups, which included a blank control (no pesticide, no adjuvant, only water) and a control with only pesticide (no adjuvant). Further, flight intensity, colony intensity and pupae development continued to deteriorate long after the application comparative to the control groups. Zhang noted that this study, "contributed to the understanding of the complex relationships between the composition of pesticide formulations and bee harm," and stressed that "further research is required on the environmental safety assessment of adjuvants and their interactions with active ingredients on non-target species." | supersonico

05/8/2019 13:20 | Super, Post 6668, Funny how Eden quickly removed the #/hashtags referencing Sumitomo, Bayer, BASF and Eastman. We always reference Sipcam and Sumi-Agro, not Sumitomo. Might these 4 be the principle targets for commercialising Sustaine to an even wider crop protection market and in global territories. Might we be getting an announcement on the same to tie in with the option awards IF Eden is to get to between 20-30p on weighted average for 45 days? I think that starts August the 15th. Not long to go to drive value through price. Is this the direction of an event/transaction that will be the catalyst to put Eden up a gear? | investingisatrickygame
05/8/2019 12:28 | Haha, I went the other way (was invested in EDEN and the bought SEE at 3p after super mentioned it). I can tell you my SEE investment is doing MUCH better than EDEN. Be prepared to be very bored if you invest here! | dplewis1

01/8/2019 20:17 | Bayer JV to develop biopesticides 23rd July 2019 | Company News, Crop Protection, Innovation, R&D The Bayer Group has announced a $110 million collaboration with Arvinas, a US biopharmaceutical company based in New Haven, Connecticut, to develop novel products for the crop protection and human healthcare sectors. The new life science research partnership will leverage the potential of Arvinas’ novel proteolysis-targetin The exclusive joint venture is the first exploration of the potential of the PROTAC technology for crop protection, using the novel molecular approach to address the weeds, insects and/or diseases that threaten crops worldwide. As the technology degrades targets rather than inhibiting them, it offers a completely new category of crop protection applications in agriculture. In addition, PROTAC could enable the revival of crop protection mechanisms that have become ineffective through target resistance to conventional pesticides. “The goal is to utilise the complementary expertise of Bayer and Arvinas to develop novel research discoveries that ultimately deliver new crop protection products for farmers,” said Dr Robert Reiter, member of the executive committee of Bayer Crop Science Division and head of crop science research & development. “With this cutting-edge science, we aim to deliver safe and effective solutions that will aid farmers in protecting and producing crops that help to feed a growing global population.” Bayer has committed more than USD 55 million within the framework of the joint venture over six years to translate the new protein degradation technology in agricultural chemistry and to build an agro-specific PROTAC® IP portfolio. Bayer will also establish a target-based pharmaceutical research collaboration with Arvinas and will make an equity investment to sustain its commitment to the technology. ……&hel | supersonico

31/7/2019 08:03 | Non-chemical alternatives to pesticides, biocontrol products saw their sales grow in France by 24% in 2018. Their manufacturers still regret gaps in research and information. According to the International Biocontrol Manufacturers Association (IBMA) barometer, in 2019, the French biocontrol market recorded a 24% increase in sales in 2018. 30/7/2019 16:28 | This 120 day 'Grant of 'Emergency use' with Post harvest of Mevalone and Cedroz and the lack of follow up approvals looks like a new strategy to marketing and Product development/PR etc. It will be interesting to see the timing of the other country approvals. I suspect they will be slow in arriving. The approach only makes sense if it's to suit Sumiagro/Eden as it does not take much grey matter to wonder why France with Mevalone and Italy with Cedroz are unique in their urgent need to be Granted 'Emergency use'. | supersonico
