19/6/2001 23:54 | Midas update in Financial Mail on Sunday,a long term & strong supporter of EBQ suggested taking profits as a lot of positive expectation in the price for EBQ to live up to.This may have influenced some investors to sell at the start of this week.Time will tell whether this was the right advice. | superpete
19/6/2001 23:37 | Here is a recent news item from USA that will undoubtedly have very positive implications for EBQ further down the line.Imo one good reason to hold on for better things - perhaps 120p is not that far away. New Game Boy Advance Already a Sellout; Buyers Snap Up a Record 500,000 Nintendo Game Boy Advance Systems in a Week -- More on the Way! Monday June 18 8:12am Source: BusinessWire REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 18, 2001--The best selling video game platform in history is selling better than ever. Nintendo's Game Boy(R) Advance sold through half a million units during its first week on the market, making it America's fastest selling game system ever. Nintendo of America Inc. announced today that the portable Game Boy Advance is a virtual sellout across the country, with 500,000 systems sold through to consumers since its launch June 11. But shortages should be temporary, as Nintendo shipped more than 100,000 additional units over the weekend, with total shipments on track to reach more than 1 million by the end of June. "We knew demand was going to be strong -- but this is a record-setting response," says Peter Main, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Nintendo of America. "The good news is that we are able to ship approximately another 500,000 units by end of June with further product to become available through July and August." No video game system in history has exploded so quickly at retail. Nintendo's last new hardware launch occurred in 1996 for the Nintendo(R) 64 and set an all-time industry record by selling through almost half a million units in four weeks. By achieving half a million sales in a single week, Game Boy Advance is clearly the fastest selling U.S. video game system ever. | onaroll
19/6/2001 21:23 | Not a shorter but realistic. The signs are there There is no real support at this level Monday - 5 mil sells Today - 1 mil plus sells today Buys - 400K buys over 2 last trading days EBQ will fall a bit before moving forward on more news. Kind Regards ! | toorie
19/6/2001 18:33 | Hello. I see the shorters are back on the board trying to talk EBQ down, remember their comments before about going down to 50p just before the climb up to over 90p. Given the sell pressure over the last two days the price has done well, up 2p on the week so far. I dont get involved with tech analysis charts etc. its the future potential that matters & this is still massive. Remeber, we are now just back to the levels before that profits warning that caused the slump. Still looking for 120p, ignore the shorters they will damage your wealth. | astrocat
18/6/2001 20:21 | The share is struggling at this level to be honest. A slight fall back is on the cards. Kind Regards ! | toorie
18/6/2001 17:49 | the stock is selling at a discoutn to the sector! by all means keep tight stop losses and watch carfully. if you then stopped out there is no great harm in selling at these levels, but also there will be ample opportunites to reinvest in this stock. i say this in a day when the stock has risen by 2% on a miserable trading day. my own conclusion dont sell yet. for those who are into technical analysis, there are clear support and resistance lines, follow these carefully before you jump into any conclusions as to selling or buying. what is clear now is that the 100p resistance level has become a support level. accordingly, prices are unlikely to drop below the 100p level under normal circumstances. if they eve did, then it would be a sell sign. this stock is a classic in terms of ta, feast yourself. ebq has been tipped again as a 'buy on weakness' by hargreaves lansdown. | melfaraj
18/6/2001 16:53 | IMHO the stock has come to far to fast and all of the good news is in the price. I am watching £1.05 as a key point and if it closes above this convincingly then your £1.20 can not be ruled out but a test and fail of this level and I would look for a re-tracement to 84p initially and then 76p. I will be short at £1.05 with a tight stop at 1.08 | goodfella
18/6/2001 16:15 | I topped up a bit last week, Gameboy Advance launch can only help sales. I notice a lot of private investors following Mail on Sunday advice to take profits. Hmmm!! the price has gone up 1.5p anyway, perhaps the Mail have got it wrong (again). Still, we may se a bit of weakness this week, if the price holds up then 120p here we come. I am looking forward to Xmas & next year when we could start to see 150p+. I really cant see much downside on this one. | astrocat
17/6/2001 22:16 | Sun Express has EBQ as a buy at £1. Lots of large buys in the £1 region. So good support from big investors. Kind Regards ! PS: Sun Mail says take profits if had enough. | toorie
13/6/2001 14:25 | astrocat, well done. i think you are spot on. buy on weakness as i believe the target price in the mid term is £1.20. with a share like this you should be prepared to come off at times only to hitch a ride when the time is right to do so. all the recent news on this share, without any exception, have been positive. investing in this share is probably one of the surrest winners at present, but then you should not expect explosive growth! good luck. | melfaraj
13/6/2001 13:34 | Hi Melfaraj, I am still holding EBQ & thinking of topping up on any weakness at around 100p. What do you reckon, buy or hold | astrocat
11/6/2001 10:07 | yes, yet another hurdle has been breached, £1.00! now the next port of call is £1.20, but beware, this is unlikely to come in one straight hike. expect ups and down, but keep you eyes on the target all the time! EBQ has now been tipped in yesterday's sunday telegraph as follows: back in january we tipped electronics boutique at 65.5p arguing that shares in the games retailer could reach 100p in the medium term. on friday the shares closed up 2.25p at 97.25p following the announcement that electronics boutiqe was to acquire centromail the spanish chain of specialist video game and computer software stores, from troubled rival gameplay. hopes that 2001 will be a bumper yeear for the games industry are still high - early reports suggest that the nintendo gameboy advance will be as popular as sony's ps2. eb has proved to be a profitable stock for readers. we originally bought the shares in march 1999 at 57.5p and tehn told readers to sell three months later at 102p before piling back-in at 65.5. keep buying. | melfaraj
11/6/2001 09:56 | HOORAY! EBQ 100p AT LAST!! | becks0277
09/6/2001 17:35 | picking up nicely. technical indicators suggest a 100p next port of call. | melfaraj
01/6/2001 15:43 | FreddyFinance, please look at the thread named 'INNOVATION' for comment on TIG. as expected, there has been diametrically oppoing views on this stock. but now the 'investors chronicle' has come to knock some sense by recommending the share. | melfaraj
31/5/2001 15:02 | I believe this will have a very positive impact on EBQ. Lets face it, Gameplay was probably the biggest competitor to EBQ and without it, there is an obvious hole in the interactive games market. Both internet and digital TV will be monopolised by our online division, EB Media. I believe Dixons, Sky and Freeserve had large stakes in Gameplay and will still be looking to capitalise on the online/interactive TV market. In my opinion EBQ would be the first choice of partner as they have a proven, reliable business model and they make PROFITS!! The fact that we already have strategic partnerships with NTL, Microsoft and Netscape should be an added incentive to be the preferred supplier of an online gaming store. I expect with Gameplay out of the way, you will also see another gain in market share for EBQ, which can only reflect positively on our sales. Gameplay had turnover of £44.53m which is impressive. If EBQ can take 30% of this and generate a profit, then buckle up because this stock is going to fly faster and harder than ever before!! | crystalballs
31/5/2001 08:22 | I believe that ebq may only be interested in gameplay when they are truly down and out. Why waste good money paying for a failing ongoing business when you can possibly pick up the desirable pieces for next to nothing (i.e. Barrys World ). In the meantime ebq are able to continue expanding their market share and hopefully increase returns to their shareholders. | witten
30/5/2001 16:01 | Any thoughts on whether EBQ might have an interest in Gameplay, if the time arose, or whether this would be flogging a dead donkey? Slight shift today, possibly in response to GAM's news. Here's in anticipation of a 120 target in the near future. Kind regards. | marcusw
29/5/2001 17:19 | EBQ still looking good. Up over 10% since the mention in SCSW. | dcb
26/5/2001 18:39 | this could be the 2nd breakout. the share moved up on friday to 93.5 from its recent consolidation period. watchout on tuesday. if the share is to climb up decisively, or in particular if it is to gap up, then the breakout would have been confirmed. | melfaraj
24/5/2001 12:18 | there is always a large buy at end of last 3 days . somone gathering ?? | xeryus
23/5/2001 21:11 | Confirm I have seen the report also ! Kind Regards ! | toorie |
