He is better being a banker and financial expert given what we will be though over the next 3-5 years.

Easyjet has plenty of aviation/travel expertise in the senior management team.

This is a very astute appointment.

Is the pandemic on the wane in Europe or is this the quiet before the next storm? With capacity football crowds back and Spain due to go red, this could go either way.

Hi guys,

Been talking to my nephew who is a baggage handler at Glasgow airport.

He is saying that EasyJet has picked up a lot of passengers because some airlines have stopped flying various routes.

He reckons that EasyJet are 130% of what they were pre pandemic.

December 1999 FTSE peaked at 6,920 - 22 years later, as I write this, it's 7,125 - 3% growth over 22 years - great.

Delta variant now known to be far more infectious than previous variants with R0 of 8 comparable with chickenpox and greater than the common cold even.
Mortality rate also greater
US cases now hitting >100,000 a day
Cases surging in Asia, Latin America, parts of Europe and Oceania
Vaccines have not performed anywhere near as well as they proclaimed with many of those doubly vaccinated still getting symptomatic Covid and accounting for 40% of UK admissions
Hospitals, GP services and A&E at breaking point - Winter is coming
New variant detected in Florida where hospitalisations are at record highs
Long Covid is a serious concern
Interest rates already at rock bottom rates
Furlough scheme now being wound up
Unemployment almost certain to rise
Bankruptcies - especially travel, hospitality, retail - probable
Taxes are certain to rise - including corporation tax by 5% minimum which will hit EPS across the markets

Despite all this global markets are at record highs
For now

Until QT and rip off testing and Covid Passports totally disappear, the like of EZJ will just be treading water. Imo.No brainer for longer term recovery as long as our loony leader is replaced with someone business friendly.

But will they have to quarantine when they go home?

If so, they might not bother.
