Easyjet on dangerous ground, says Third Bridge: Easyjet (EZJ) is caught in a ‘dangerous middle ground’ between low-cost rivals and legacy airlines, at a time when the aviation industry is under pressure, says Third Bridge. Analyst Jack Winchester said 2020 was ‘incredibly damaging’ for aviation, with short-haul airlines like Easyjet in ‘the eye of the storm’. The budget airline reported an 88% slump in revenues for the last quarter to £165m, lower than expected. Despite its woes, Winchester said investors had been willing to ‘plug the gaps’ and it has raised £3bn since lockdown began. ‘The issues for Easyjet go well beyond cash management. The short-haul flier is having to face up to some very aggressive competitors such as Wizz Air (WIZZ) and Ryanair (RYA),’ he said. ‘With Wizz Air clearly ambitious to grow market share, we may see Easyjet caught on a dangerous middle ground between more aggressive low-cost players and legacy carriers.’

sadly EZJ likely to fall today after the little bounce yesterday unless US futures pick up before UK opens in 45 minutes - they are trying to recover after sharp selloff overnight .

tiobs2, talk about cheery picking , brexit was a disaster and evidence of it every day but you obviously close your eyes and ears to it ! The ONE thing your incompetent Tory government got right was on vaccines and the rest was tragic including blood on their hands over the 100,000 deaths , worst in Europe . you overlook that of course as a brextremist !

Being part of the EU means that the Germans will have to wait a long time to get a vaccine program complete. So sadly it looks like no Octoberfest for us this year. What a wise choice we made to leave the EU and get our order in for a vaccine first :-)

amazing how people do not get it. they invest in their "favourites". IAG holders are the same. Wizz has a great business model almost as good as RYA`s. Everyone likes to hate them but they give choice and very cheap prices and regional airports. EZJ and IAG have been caught out and their poor operations and model exposed. No covid no one would have found out.. There are now more shares in circ and a lot more debt. Something like "normal" might be possible by summers end. Meanwhile Cornwall is almost booked up...Already!

ttobs2, I thought the comment about needing government help to survive would knock the share price but maybe they got a nod and a wink from Johnson ! incredible performance .

but EZJ recovered well today after early fall . However ,Juicester's news means the EZJ share price is likely to fall just because of lack of purchasers .maybe it was just short covering today .

Julcester, If that is true then it would make EZJ untradeable, and result in massive law suits for those impacted. I thought the worst they could do is disenfranhcise excess shareholders from voting

Just been notified that too many non-EU holders own EZJ stock (as per boards direction on non-eu membership) and if the non-eu holders do not reduce, they will force them to sell on a last-in, first out basis. Guess too many UK holders (post brexit).

This is a fascinating situation. For all the rhetoric, Government messaging is designed to keep people as locked up for as long as possible in vaccine roll out phase. Everyone in the UK and Europe will be desparate to open up the travel market by May. The Govenment knows it can;t let the sector go to the wall hence no blanket ban and no commentary on summer. If the road map is back to Tiers come March, travel WILL be back on for peak season, and today's price will look like a bargain

Arrivals in the UK from 22 countries including South Africa, Portugal and South American nations who cannot be refused entry will need to quarantine for ten days 'in government provided accommodation, such as hotels, without exception.

not so sure it will go that low again but about 640 level is a possibility. If you feel confident of that , it would be a good short trade . I rarely short a stock but into it recently with EZJ twice yesterday and WTB but quite a few to choose from. sad times !
