HSBC raises easyJet price target to 440 (380) pence - 'hold' |
It's not the flights it's the cost of the hotel & spending money when you are there. Wow 24 seats that going to really boost there profits lol |
If the money is not there flights will be one of the first luxuries to go. Booked a golfing trip with mates myself but we are probably not representative of the wider population. I am sat here with the heating on. |
Doesnt cost much for return flights to spain, greece etc people will still go on holiday. Bonus next year Autumn which is normally quiet has the Rugby World Cup in Paris. Huge amount of extra flights will be booked from all over the EU. I've just booked 2x return trips to Paris for the rugby. 6 people = 24 seats booked |
Holidays for next summer will be booked while some can just afford it with current prices. After April it will hit some harder than imagined including energy price cap change and demand will drop significantly for at least 12 months IMHO |
Kids have 12 weeks holiday a year, they start school at 8.30 & finish at 3 or before 3!, life is one long holiday for them lol A home for life is more important than a week in the sun |
Jugears,
So you believe people don't have spare cash for a holiday yet at the same time you believe people, who don't have spare cash, will buy hyped homes, just when the housing market is about to crash!!!! Really...lol
What do you think the people holding off from buying a home and waiting for interest rates to drop will do??? They'll still go on holiday.
Kids will always need holidays, year in, year out.. not new build homes.
Housing market benefited during covid, whereas travel didn't. Now the situation has switched. |
sikh we didn't have high interest rates or heating bills this summer,I wonder how much spare cash people will have for holidays next year? I see there are already some bargains out there, can't be a very good bottom line on them, you don't need to go on holiday to help your well being or benefit your kids lol, I can do do that by just sitting in my garden, A lot of competition in holidays & air travel with very little margin, you should invest in something like houses builders, did you know that only a handful of companies build the majority of the uk houses so very little competition & very unlikely to change, although cylicle they do tend to recover very quickly to strong profits especially the ones that are cash & asset rich, you've got to put a lot of bums on seats to make planes pay, a good few years Imo before this recovers. |
A point to note is that these results are to 30th Sept.
Spain, UK's no1 destination, for holidaymakers, lifted all remaining covid restrictions mid Oct, so into new fy. Plus so far this fy year there are no UK covid restrictions for Spain and I don't envisage the UK govn imposing one.
That removes a big barrier for holidaymakers to Spain.
sikhthetech - 31 Oct 2022 - 12:20:57 - 16302 of 16388 Easyjet 2014 and With Spain having lifted the remaining covid restrictions only a week ago and it being Brit's no1 travel destination, I think airlines to Spain will continue to benefit.
I believe people will still go on hols/weekend breaks for the sake of the kids and their own well being. In times of cut backs they go on cheaper hols/weekend breaks.
Housing benefited during covid, where travel didn't. I think this is already reversing and will continue to do so.
Holiday bookings are still significantly lower than pre-covid. For 2021 it was 79% lower.
Cost of living crisis or not, people still go on holiday for their kids sake and for their own wellbeing. Instead of the more expensive hols, they are more likely to go no-frills or city breaks, which is EZJ's speciality.
As more and more go on holiday and numbers improve towards pre-covid levels, the share price will take care of itself. |
Good results and good to see Johan, CEO, agree with my comments that EZJ does well in tough times as many people (for sake of kids and their own wellbeing) still go on holidays (for their kids and own wellbeing) but look at cheaper alternatives.
"easyJet has achieved a record bounce back this summer with a performance which underlines that our transformation is delivering. The summer saw easyJet achieve its highest ever earnings for a single quarter with headline EBITDAR of GBP674 million, ancillaries up by 59% on FY19 and easyJet holidays well on its way to its GBP100m target.
"easyJet does well in tough times. Legacy carriers will struggle in this high-cost environment. Consumers will protect their holidays but look for value and across its primary airport network, easyJet will be the beneficiary as customers vote with their wallets.
sikhthetech - 14 Oct 2022 - 12:45:33 - 16261 of 16424 Easyjet 2014 and beyond - I think people will move more to low cost airlines like EZJ to save money. People don't give up holidays, they simply down grade to shorter trips, more cost effective hols, which is perfect for carriers like EZJ.
Look at the period during covid. People didn't give up holidays and sat at home because of covid, staycation flourished. Then when other countries opened up, they went abroad as soon as they could. |
gswredland, If you look at how much people are spending in the shops at the moment & the amount of companies that are really busy you would be forgiven for thinking that the so called experts are lying to us, because there doesn't seem to be much sign of a slow down to me. |
Also this turnover includes their 1.5 billion equity rises last year , if you take that out , I see massive losses . Currently 200m losses & operation cost bit high 6 billion ... correct figures will show next year half year results |
Thanks Jug |
Probably because they wont match this summers performance next year now that people will need to focus there money on higher interest rates & higher energy costs, IMO less holidays will be taken in 2023 as people get to grips with there finances, but may rebound in 2024. |
JP Morgan sell...Why? |
you have missed nothing |
Maybe I'm missing the point here but market cap £2.9b with £3.6b cash and only £0.7b debt.Yesterday Brent was at an 11 month low.Looking much better for the long term. |
JP Morgan sell Goldman Sachs buy |
Oil price hit $140 a barrel this year. Now fallen back to $85. So costs will fall. |
Turnover for 2022 at £5.7 billion is now similar to 2018 and 2019 levels. But whereas that used to produce a profit of around £400 million now it produces a loss of £208 million. Some way to go here yet I think. |
Many will find it cheaper to go abroad for a few weeks than stay at home with the heating cranked. |
Fuel prices will eventually fall and prices for flying will increase - people will fly moving forward and won't hide away |
Averaged up with another 1000 shares this morning. Average now £3.14. !!!! Steal. |
