@Boozey - I bought in here a few weeks back on the basis that the new management is getting its act together and the pandemic will undoubtedly increase client volumes. On the basis of great minds think alike - where else are you investing at the moment? Anything you think we should be looking at?

Welcome aboard Asagi. If you want a high level history from my not so good memory these days, company floated some 18 months ago. CEO was fired earlier this year for various reasons not to do with the pandemic. New CEO seems to know what he is doing and integrating the company well as well as promoting shareholder value more. New Chairman on board as well. There has been Director buying from the start of pandemic, beginning around 90p in the spring to buys in the summer at 60pish... and latterly a Private Equity investment. To my knowledge it is the only pure play legal firm listed on the main market. There are a few on AIM like Keystone. All in all a solid company with plenty of upside as you noted in your post.

agreed Boozey, I bought in today. Let's see if the trading statement encourages some forecast increases.

The business does NOT seem to have been adversely affected by COVID but the share price would still need to increase 60% from here to reach their pre-COVID highs.

Asagi (long DWF)

I’m not a chartist - but, if I were, that chart looks like it was formed by Carlsberg!

Classic coiled spring formation!!

IC covers results:. Conclusion:

DWF’s shares have disappointed since debuting in March last year – their value has almost halved from the 122p IPO price. The group is handing out a final dividend and does enjoy some defensive characteristics with recurring revenue from its insurance activities. It might be worth sticking around to find out if new management can stage a comeback. Hold.

I'd agree with the underlined bit!

trev - I should have said "not much of a trader". Interpret that as you like!

jonwig "and I bought a few yesterday morning. I don't expect to see 120p anytime soon, but 70p would be my price target, short-term" - and you said you weren't a trader :-)

@ tradertrev - I can't really comment on your assertion, not being a trader!

But these FY results are to 30 April, and the CEO was sacked on 29 May. According to a Times article at the time, he made acquisitions but no attempt at integrating them. ("Just get on with it.") This means there'll be a lot of reorganisation and integration in the current year - with the associated costs. The TS yesterday didn't allude to this.

So what it means, I guess, is than any manipulation you suggest will be small compared to the real costs coming up. Personally, I'd be more concerned with beyond-due receivables - a common thing with law firms.

As you say, outlook seems good, and I bought a few yesterday morning. I don't expect to see 120p anytime soon, but 70p would be my price target, short-term. (Barring "stuff happening"!)

PS: Aviva contract could be significant?

Well done to those who traded this at the lows, but I'm not buying into this here or any time soon. We have delayed results which are predictably bad coming out at the same time as new results for a shorter, more recent period which are surprisingly good. It's the easiest thing in the world for an extremely ambitious CEO such as we have here to allocate some revenue out of the earlier period into the recent one and/or some costs the other way. The market largely ignores the weaker, older results and focuses on the more current ones. I'd need to see a good trading pattern maintained for at least another 2 quarters before I'd change my mind on this one. Just my personal opinion of course.

There’s a storm of litigation brewing relating to covid19 that will undoubtedly lead to significant volumes of business for the legal industry over the next couple of years. From small employment related issues and tribunals over unfair dismissals through to large-scale corporate litigation, it will be a boon for the likes of DWF.

Looking forward to significant recovery over two years.

Starting to gather momentum. Covid litigation will be a massive boost for Lawyers over the next 36 months. Imagine the litigation that will follow the furlough/redundancies/pay cuts that will spin for this mess. One thing is certain, lawyers always do well from a crisis.
