As an indicator of the ongoing gloom facing the troubled eurozone, the latest Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), which is based on surveys of thousands of companies across the region, slumped to a nine-month low of 52.3 in September. Such dreary news could prove costly for box maker DS Smith (SMDS), which makes two-thirds of its profits in the eurozone, and Mondi (MNDI), whose packaging business is relying on structural demand in Europe to improve.

But those poor german production numbers yesterday and the sinking value of the euro are really shafting us at the moment.

Looking like a top call matt. Nothing to stop it going much lower than that the way it`s performing lately . SMDS has all of a sudden become my lowest net worth holding in my portfolio. Awful performance this year.


DS Smith plc (LON:SMDS)‘s stock had its “hold” rating reaffirmed by analysts at Goodbody Stockbrokers Ltd in a research report issued to clients and investors on Wednesday. They currently have a GBX 295p target price on the stock.

Bought a few more for my pension today. The multiple is very undemanding, yield very respectable and I like companies where there are clear targets which management are looking to hit. Think this is a very good company to buy and forget about
