13/8/2009 00:51 | I have taken a look at the fib numbers and the 38% retracement. I now see it comes in at 9300. Please could you tell me how 38 comes in at 9400? as I have it as a failed back test on 24% Thank you. | dark angel3
13/8/2009 00:45 | Definitely going now. laters. | rs2ooo
13/8/2009 00:45 | Only traded 2 years, but boy have I worked hard at it! My account balance stopped going down in around March/April of this year. My account balance has only been increasing consistently since May/June this year. Still in an overall loss from when I first started trading in 2007. | rs2ooo
13/8/2009 00:44 | Thank you. Why does everyone leave when the questions get harder. I only asked Opec for his opinion of tonights rally and the stage door was left open. | dark angel3
13/8/2009 00:41 | DA3 Simplified, but not 100% accurate: Nasdaq tends to be the market leading indice, particularly when the trend is up. 9421 is the 38% fib level from the 2007 highs to the 2009 lows - a very significant subconscious psychological level, but nowadays traded consciously 'cos everyone knows about it. The 50% fib level is even more important because this is the level that will either support a retracement or reject it and continue the previous trend i.e downwards in this case. The Nasdaq is at the 50% level now (or last time I looked anyway). I gotta go, gotta be up in 5 hours. Night all. | rs2ooo
13/8/2009 00:40 | I needed that. 2000, how long have you been trading? | dark angel3
13/8/2009 00:37 | Thank you. Give me a minute, now where is that gerry. | dark angel3
13/8/2009 00:36 | I am old and need a pea, sooner rather than later as I am fit to burst. | dark angel3
13/8/2009 00:36 | Thanks Dark Angel. As you know, day trading is very difficult and it has taken me 2 years of trading every day and 1000's of hours work to understand even the little knowledge I have now. Hence I try to construct my posts in a way that does not lead anyone into following what I do or believing that this game is easy. andyb is another trader who puts in incredible hours just to be on the right side of a trade. The more boisterous opionated traders often make much bigger gains than me, but also risk much bigger losses. | rs2ooo
13/8/2009 00:31 | Please could you explain that for me RS2000? | dark angel3
13/8/2009 00:28 | Another thing I was saying earlier.... All it would take is for 1 little stray 1 minute candle to close above 9421 and that could become a major support. The area has been tested twice now, another dip and run up and we could be into another leg up. Bear in mind that NDX is already perched on the 50%, and as we all know NDX leads market. | rs2ooo
13/8/2009 00:28 | >R2000 You are Genuine, a person who is always willing to share his foresight of current market projectiles without prejudice and I respect you for that. You will make a very good trader. | dark angel3
13/8/2009 00:25 | Gawd almighty we'll have JW'S knocking on the door next for direction. | snap23
13/8/2009 00:24 | andy, Hope your trading well. I'd stay away from the opinionated stuff for fear of dragging grief to your own good thread. Anyway, do you have any set ups for tomorrow as I have a mixture of signals pointing in both directions? CPCI closed at 1.60, virtually always bullish for the following day, but at the same time, sentinment usually reverses the day following FOMC announcements! I think one of the best signals for the big turn will be a "sell on good news" situation and that is what I'm waiting for. | rs2ooo
13/8/2009 00:17 | Dark Angel, Long term, I think we are here in the green shaded bit (chart is actually DOW 1929): Short term, I take each trade as it presents itself. Dow bounced off 20MA today as expected, I went long at 9230, got stopped out for breakeven on the second small dip, then went long again at 9244 and closed at 9371. Even at 9371 I was confident we would test the highly significant 9421 level (as posted live on other thread) but closed my position because I didn't want to risk being whipsawed during FOMC announcement. As for tomorrow - just like today, I don't know until it comes. I have valid reasons for going long and short tomorrow, and whichever one is first to give a good signal is the one I will trade. After going short tonight from 9397 and closing it for 35 points or so, I did go long at 9351 at the close with a target of 9380 for completion of the right shoulder of the H+S, however, I closed this position at 9366 because I didn't trust running it overnight. | rs2ooo
13/8/2009 00:16 | Dark Angel i hear your message and i shall be here 2moro right by your side as promised | hassythebeast1 |
