With a strong balance sheet supported by £27m in cash and contracted forward revenues this business looks set to outperform by some margin.

"Following a strong 1Q, the Board now expects to deliver a greater rate of revenue growth this financial year versus current consensus expectations. The strong 1Q performance has been driven by existing customer growth, new customer wins and a significant take up of non-email channels."

A good update seems to have been anticipated by the market so no doubt there will be short term profit taking at some point but I expect to see any temporary slack eagerly absorbed.

dotdigital has been approved for inclusion in the UK Government's G-Cloud initiative.

This is a procurement framework and online platform from which public sector organisations can buy services without needing to run a full tender or competition procurement process.

We remain big fans of this rapidly growing business which also has the attraction of high operating margins and return on equity.

what price would be a good entry point at this stage?

Who knows. Maybe the current strength has something to do with the switch to online shopping during Covid. I started buying these at 7.9p nine years ago. I remember telling a friend about them who has reviewed them many times over the years with a view to buying but never has as they always looked expensive!

I was looking at the volume of trades - Yesterday over double the normal number, 111 and today 200, about 5x normal.
So, has it been tipped or has something leaked?

The apparent imbalance between buys and sells will be a myth - There is no way MM's conjured up 6 mill shares from nowhere or would risk an uninformed imbalance of that magnitude, so the block of big trades published at 8:43 am (delayed?) probably nets out to a buy (or sell) of 130818 unless a large delayed effect has yet to appear.

Patience will no doubt reveal the answer - an rns perhaps tomorrow or Monday.

Must admit I thought they would take at least a small hit from Covid due to customers not being able to pay. All looking good and a very strong performance against the market since the beginning of the year.

dotDigital Group plc COVID-19 Update

Robust financial position

zero debt.

The business has 90% recurring revenues, (of which 90% is contracted), giving us strong future revenue visibility. We achieve a high operating margin and enjoy good operating cost flexibility. Cash at the end of March was on target at GBP22.0m with zero debt. Customers come from a diversified mix of industry types and company sizes, with no client representing more than 1.5% of revenue. Stress test modelling gives a high level of confidence that we could, if required, maintain our business model through a prolonged global downturn.

Solid RNS and as expected operations will continue largely uninterrupted as being a software business, much can be done remotely. Fully accept that it is hard to predict what effect Covid 19 will have longer term, but I particularly liked this bit :-

There are a lot of companies that would love to be in that position right now imo. Will continue to hold and look to add as a LTH.

I have sold my holding in DOTD over the last couple of days. DOTD has many attributes in this market with a very strong net cash position and a solid business model, where it can still operate in the current lockdown. But on the negative side it has a significant number of clients (particularly in retail) whose business is affected. If you just view this as a 3 month hiatus, then DOTD will be fine - but I sold on the basis I wanted to free up cash for elsewhere and limit risk, if lockdown is extended.

Also SaaS so revenues should be sticky & secure and customer fees are low enough (£500-£1000 pm) for churn to be low. Personally, I would have thought this would be one of the safer investments. If there is such a thing.

On what do you base that? Majority of sales are EU (inc UK)and N America, not Asia and it's a software company.

Excellent set of results. Good partnerships and repeat business. Cash generative and debt free. Good to see that 34% of their business is overseas and expanding. Congratulations to the BOD.
